Looks like Good old " Tom Morgan" isn't quite a "household name" yet. Ouch!
I feel for the company, this was most likely a "feel good" story to help keep the employee spirits out of the dumps. Probably wouldn't hurt to realign the investors confidences also. I don't work there nor have I every really wanted to but some of my friends do.
This is a great example of how closely you should believe what the media writes in their daily drivel/rag. On a really good day the name might be right but the story is wrong, in this case it was visa-versa. Think about it next time your drooling about some juicy detail you learn from the daily rag and then temper it with the knowledge of how educated the writer of the story really is.
I'd love to know the credits of the person that wrote this, bet that they were a regular f'kn "poindexter" in college. NOT!
Like it or not the media ought to pay the man the respect he deserves by getting his name correct.
Keep the faith Tim.

A certain well known, outspoken 'someone' has been uncharacteristically silent since that G&M press release regarding Japanese tourists and 767's...

I'm not putting two and two together, but I find it interesting Mr Jang had more than a neuron or two to rub together to come up with this speculation all on his own.

Any News ?
Apparently the CFO, Alan Mann, has resigned ? He doesn't appear as a member of the managment team anymore as listed on their website.

Good grief no and no intention what so ever of applying either! Happy where I am thanks! You would have to be certifiable to apply at Enerjet at the moment.

I think Canadian North teamed up with the recession to destroy Enerjet.
If pilot lay offs are true...good luck to those - hope you get work soon.

LOL. Does the above sound like something Canadian North does?Using the name NewAir & Tours, the business model is still being fleshed out, but the goal is to fly travellers in smaller cities to larger centres and U.S. holiday destinations.
NewAir's 55-page proposal is modelled after Allegiant Travel Co., a Las Vegas-based firm that runs a vacation division and low-cost airline with a fleet of 32 McDonnell Douglas MD-80 planes flying scheduled and charter service.
Maybe launching during the recession and changing business plans at launch wasn't the best thought out idea.

Re: Enerjet
Not too sure what this means exactly (a nice of way of saying the end is here?), but it is a rather vague news release...
"Enerjet Prepares for Change to Business Operations"

Re: Enerjet
They probably realized that paying for a lease on a new aircraft isn't affordable unless its flying all the time... those MD-80s can be picked up for dirt cheap

Re: Enerjet
I think the 73G was detrimental to their lack of success thus far. Apart from having the range to operate all of North and Central America at a reasonable fuel burn, the birds would have to fly at least a few times a day - everyday - to keep up with lease payments alone!
The lack of capacity versus the 738 (137 v.s. 189) also caused the majority of Transat's western winter '09/'10 program to be shifted away from Enerjet and towards Canjet - even while EJ was in the process of preparing their sked.
In the end, the MD-80's may have been a wise choice given the constant ground time these a/c are getting but whose to say the would have been awarded any charter flying with such aircraft? (try flying an MD from Stephenville to Firebag n/s)
In the end, I'm:
a.) grateful I never got the job after the 2nd interview
b.) sorry to hear some of my friends just got laid off
c.) thinking it was just a bad idea to begin with, let alone the timing! I mean, how many 737 charter operators does 1 country need?!?)
Canjet
Flair
Air North
Canadian North
Nolinor
First Air
Air Inuit
WestJet
Sunwing
(Yes, some are obviously sked operators but all have and continue to operate in direct competition with each other when it comes to bidding for off-sked charter work)
Anyways, good luck to all affected. I'm hoping we won't see the EJ livery disappear into Southwest livery anytime soon.

Re: Enerjet
Enerjet was not shy about going after work that had previously been done by Canadian North. Their promotional material was very specific about the advantages of their aircraft type when it came to oil patch charters. The Suncor Firebag contract could have been a money maker but the economic down turn killed that business and when it started to come back, the oil companies were super tight on cost.
They went after DND cadet charter programs but could not get their bid cheap enough and Canadian North scooped up the majority of that flying as well.

Re: Enerjet
The fact Enerjet publicly went after Imperial Oil after losing out to Canadian North doesn't help their cause when it comes to future oil sands work.
BTW... Canadian North did a fraction of cadet charter work this past summer compared to other years. I believe Air Inuit or Nolinor did the majority of it by seriously under bidding everyone else.
Best of luck to the Enerjet crews!
