Manufacturers always 'hold back' monthly delivery positions. This is to prevent a single customer from locking up too many sequential delivery slots and possibly profiting by reselling them (Deluce tried this with the original Dash 8 order for Air Ontario in 1986 but DH rejected their original request for 70+ airframes). It also allows the manufacturer to retain potential customers ensuring that airframes will be regularly available.whiteguy wrote:It doesn't matter when the order was placed. Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
I never said that we were getting the Q400s early, but that the location of the new hires would probably be based on where the Q400s would create vacancies once the summer bid gets sorted out. Also, the union has no idea where the number 45 is coming from. The number that I've been told to pass around is 10 new hires this summer. That is all the union has been told by the company at this point (obviously subject to change).mbav8r wrote:El Comat, What kind of rumors are you hearing? Why would the first Q400 course be in July, considering we take delivery of the first one in May next year?
I haven't heard anything to suggest we're getting them early.

Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
That makes sense, and based on the assumption they have the capacity, then they can keep everybody happy. If they didn't meet a delivery date for Porter because they were busy building for Jazz, that would not keep a customer happy especially now with Jazz planning to move some of their business to YTZ as a direct competitor to porter.rudder wrote:Manufacturers always 'hold back' monthly delivery positions.
