Re: Pic from a swamper
My Pano shots are stitched together as well. For anyone that has a Canon Digital camera (likely other brands too), the software comes bundled with your camera and worked pretty well. Most point and shoots have a "stitch assist" type feature where a portion of you preceding shot is left on the LCD display to help line up your next shot. It's helpful and works well. I love the pano shots as it really helps to capture the feel of a landscape.
On the one Caravan shot where it looks like a "fisheye" effect along the wing, I was just zoomed out all the way and standing really close to plane. The individual shots look normal but when stitching together, the wing curved a bit, made a cool effect.

Hey Brint, like the AO pics. Spent some time there myself.
Here are few more of mine. See if anyone knows where the third one is from. Note the ballast on the back.

Drinking lots of coffee lately, at a nice safe jungle desk, wishing I were flying......
Re: Pic from a swamper
That's the one 1000hp. Driving the Hyster was just as imprtant a skill as the flying.

Re: Pic from a swamper
In the snow like that, is it sitting on the skids or the cargo pod?
Re: Pic from a swamper
Nice paint job on that bird. You view from the office kicks the crap out of mine.

It's sitting on the cargo pod, yes. The 500 isn't the best machine to land in deep snow with, all four gear legs are on oleos and they flex too much for really "pounding down" into the snow with. In fact, too much "pounding" will only serve to spread the gear out, and that causes them to become too soft.
That snow was up to my waist in depth, so the machine is just sitting on the top of it in those shots. The real depth would be 20ft+ there. I've landed there in summer, and small trees are under all that.

Not a machine, but it was out in the "field," and it does fly....

Re: Pic from a swamper
