Re: Air Canada Interviews
Not an issue, because I will convert my FAA ATP license.
I spoke with TC and they said that if I do the conversion with the special FAA TC agreement I will be entitled a Canadian ATPL.
This is what is required for FAA ATP holder to convert it to Canada:
"Hold an FAA airline transport pilot certificate with Airplane Multi-engine class rating and a minimum of 900 hours airplane category flight time. Flight Engineer time will not be credited."
for your reference here is a link of the agreement.

I hope that it helps someone else too!

Re: Air Canada Interviews
The agreement between the FAA and TC is not intended to be used as a backdoor for pilots with licenses originally issued outside of the USA/Canada. I'm not disagreeing with what you've been told by TC, but your application (for a Canadian ATPL) may get hung up.
http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/s ... 95.htm#2_2
(d) FAA pilot certificates issued on the basis of a foreign licence are not eligible for conversion to a TCCA pilot licence under these implementation procedures. TCCA pilot licences issued on the basis of a foreign licence are not eligible for conversion to an FAA pilot certificate under these Implementation Procedures.
Whomever you talked to may have been mistaken and you might want to look into converting your licenses to Canadian based on your original license. Let us know how things work out.

The agreement:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/s ... 95.htm#2_2
Section (d) of the agreement:
(d) FAA pilot certificates issued on the basis of a foreign licence are not eligible for conversion to a TCCA pilot licence under these implementation procedures. TCCA pilot licences issued on the basis of a foreign licence are not eligible for conversion to an FAA pilot certificate under these Implementation Procedures.
I believe that what they state in that section you are referring to is if a pilot was granted a FAA pilot certificate on the basis of a foreign license, meaning that you converted an ICAO license into a FAA license.
This is not my case. I've taken the checkride, oral and written tests like any other FAA pilot would do. I have never had to convert an ICAO license into a FAA license.
The following chart list the requirments:
http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/civilaviation/s ... a-2393.htm
Therefore, this section should not affect me when applying for the ATP conversion with TC. I will let you know guys how things come up once I do it.
There should be other pilots out there that have taken the advantage of this agreement, it would be nice if you can share your experience.
If you guys don't mind, could someone please tell me what companies I should be aiming to with a CPL and what others with an ATPL with my flight experience TT 1560 PIC 200 SIC 1350?

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Hi Batik -
Although your qualifications might be impressive by South American standards, in Canada there are literally thousands of guys with thousands more flight hours than you waiting for the AC interview. Many are called, few are hired, and of those that are hired, they come from a wide background, everything from experienced airline guys to bush operator F/Os. Just don't expect AC to see "DC-9" or "ATR 42" time on your resume, whistle in amazement, and call you up to offer you a DEC position. It is a very competitive process.
That being said, put in your application and see. A recent poster on this thread said the success rate was between one in 4-7 applicants, so put in your profile on the AC website, keep your fingers crossed, and wait for your interview.
Good luck.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Just received the email for an interview. I noticed on this thread a couple of people mentioning the interview prep at PCC, just wondering if there are any other suggestions for interview prep, also any other comments regarding the PCC interview prep would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Air Canada Interviews
PCC Prep was good. A small investment for a large reward.
Another route is to find someone else who has interviewed. My friend used to interview Med School applicants and picked me apart for weeks. No one wants to here canned answers. No one wants to sound completely rehearsed.
I went through thousands of questions. I tape recorded my answers to pick up small changes I could make.
Understand the behavior based interview. Know all of the stories you want to use. Prep, because if you don't and you get PFO'd, you will always wonder if you could have done more.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
4000TT multiengine turboprop, and Aviation college diploma.
Thanks for the replies I think I might spend the 400$ then at least I won't wonder after the fact.
Also if anyone has recently gone through the interview process maybe they could PM me with the layout of the interview day, how long the actual interview is, approximately how many questions they ask, how many people are on the interview panel. Did anyone make up a interview book as a reference for the interviewers. Also how long does the cog test take and the psych test.
Just looking for info so I know a bit of what to expect.
Thanks again

Re: Air Canada Interviews
I'm on the feb 6 gs as well.
Experience:
3500 tt
More than 1000 mpic turbine.
Approx 800 above 12.5 efis.
Starting my last pairing Tuesday on the dash!
Got the email for the interview in september. Did the medical on nov 17. Got the big call at the beginning of January.
Pay attention to alcohol for the medical guys, I was delayed for a month because of enzymes in the blood. This has to do with liver functions.
I would suggest not drinking for a week before the medical.
Good luck to all.
