4/6 for my course, and probably 5/6 had one person not quit OJT for personal reasons.
You don't have to be left winger for the leafs to qualify like you use to. As an OJI, I see the issues to successful training, and it is certainly not that anyone is pushing candidates out to keep the OT. Simply put, it is a difficult job. As for my OT, I maxed out my CLC this period; it's not fun. It is certainly not something I'm going to do come summer. If you're buddy "quit" or friend "washed out", its because they couldn't do the job. The company has being giving lots of extra time and even second (and third) chances to trainees when they were unsuccessful at a unit.
As for qualification stats, I've heard numbers from the YYZ MOT. The company does not make it public, so it's not my place to share details. What I can say is that these silly numbers like 4% success are absurd.

Simple fix. Nothing to lose by NOT washing out 95% of your students. Looked it up. USA wash out rates are 15-20%. This'll piss off somebody, but they have better controllers.
We rant all the time about rest intervals for flight crews.....why are controllers even getting overtime? They do their hours...go home.

Yes. It was me. Not all American controllers are better than all CDN controllers...did not mean it to be offensive. Sorry 'bout that. Edited out of original comment.
