You don't outrun anything and fly to safety in a DHC-3, let alone leave the state or province! Awesome aircraft, I've enjoyed every hour... most in NWO. This aircraft has many awesome capabilities but speed/distance is not one of them. Sometimes the storms in NWO come fast and furious and you're lucky just to be able to land safely on the nearest stretch of suitable water. I remember one summer where we all held for weather for days and when the break finally came dozens of aircraft launched. Within a few hours everyone dropped like flies for 100+ miles in front of a rapidly approaching storm front not in the forecast and many pilots remained subsequently stuck in the bush for up to three days. That's sometimes the nature of summer wx in NWO.

In a strong wind, with a tail that size, six Arnold Schwarzenegger's cannot tame that beast. So if the pilot of said aircraft managed to land safely and tie up in advance of the storm... Kudos to them. Should he/she have landed sooner, docked/tied up differently? That is a matter of pilot debrief/ self-reflection.

Cheers,
