The only way to really get a position "out of seniority" and get paid for it is go to management.

What base? What position? Was it under compassionate transfer which is in the collective agreement?Oxi wrote: ↑Thu Aug 27, 2026 1:55 pmFO, held the base well out of seniority while others unable to get back but can only recentlyaltiplano wrote: ↑Wed Aug 12, 2026 10:33 pmWhich ways are those? 20.15.02
For a period of 30 months from the date of the first CRB on which new equipment appears at a Base, or 24 months from the first planned pairing for the new equipment at that Base, whichever is longer, the Company will inform ALPA of the number of A11.02 Pilots required that will be trained out of seniority on the new equipment to perform the duties per A11.
I believe he is referring to YVR 220 trainer(s). All in compliance with the contract.

He's exaggerating. You can easily look up all the A11 pilots on the 220 in YVR. By my tabulation at the time, two held YYZ positions at the outset and were able to transfer early for their A11 duties before they were on the YVR official list, then they bid the base as the 220 position grew.
Who cares a few months early maybe. By the contract. You want to be an FI go be an FI.
And they didn't "hold the base" - if the clock ran out or they pulled the 220 and they hadn't bid the base, they would have been gone. They were working in YVR under that contract rule to start the new position in the base, but to get the base and the position permanently they had to get it like everyone else on an equipment bid by seniority.
Like how do you think you should start a new position for a fleet at base that has zero pilots on the fleet? You have to bring training guys in from another base for the startup.
If they started a 330 fleet in YVR again it would be a senior position, would you be pissed there were some more junior YYZ IOETCs and CPs assigned duties in YVR to start the base?
Nothing to see here...
Re: ALPA Reps Whoring Themselves on VO
Sure, except the pilot in question was a 737 FO at the time he was "awarded" this captain position. Actually he still is actively always on the YVR 737 FO position list. He was specifically trained as a Captain on the 220 to be a trainer on the 220. When everyone made a big deal out of it they just removed that bottom 220 CA position in yvr and left him on the 737 list to make it seem like it didnt happen. Contract article or not - he could've been trained as a 220 FO to fairly be in vancouver as a trainer on that airplane.altiplano wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2026 11:05 amI'm aware of the article.Dash.Trash wrote: ↑Fri Aug 28, 2026 1:11 am20.15.02

So, RB is now listing for VO with “ok to call on crew rest” in the comments? That’s really not a good look.

Holy fock. That was dealt with pages back. I thought we are talking about the base now. Keep up. That guy you mention has the base.yhz41 wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2026 3:46 pmSure, except the pilot in question was a 737 FO at the time he was "awarded" this captain position. And with that guy the union did their job and made sure he wasn't assigned the position on the position list out of seniority when the company tried to staple him there and take away a spot from line pilots bidding it.
The company can appoint people to do training under that contract clause. Get over it. Go be an FI if that gets you your jollies. The real funny thing here though is buddy is paid as an FO. Joke is on him.
20.15.03 - A Pilot covered under these provisions whose APOS does not reflect the new equipment type will be paid as per their original QPOS or APOS as per A13.13 and A20.10

Okay to call…. Does that mean he’s picking up the phone? I’m not AC. So I’m not actively watching this stuff. But I bet a lot of you pick up 200% pay when the wife is away.MontrealCanucks wrote: ↑Sun Aug 30, 2026 7:28 amWow...that is a real bad look...PostmasterGeneral wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2026 9:22 pm So, RB is now listing for VO with “ok to call on crew rest” in the comments? During AC negots, a ton of pilots whoring themselves out for VO. You can’t stop the bleeding. I’m sure you all will when you’re wide body captain making 30k$ per overtime pairing.
Good luck stopping any of this.
