Give the Russians a bloody chance will ya. What do they know about anything approaching Democracy? When did they ever have Democracy in all of their history......when?

They are supposed to have over-thrown Communism and embraced some form of Democrcy wholeheartedly? Really? Methinks someone should advise Mr. Putin of same then.

Democracy? Winston Churchill described it the best.........."Democracy has plenty of faults, but until something better comes along it will do just fine thank-you".

America supporting dictators? How about Canada supporting dictators? We never did you say? My government and my father supported the biggest mass-murderer in history for 5 years. The government supplied the money and aircraft and my father and others helped fly them to that dictator. Canada also forfeited many lives and ships getting supplies to him on the seas. It is stated that he was responsible for more mass murders than Hitler ever was. That's just for 'starters' as far as dictators Canada has supported. I think it's now time that we climb down off our high-horses, stopped the finger-pointing and shut our yaps on this subject lest we have it shoved down out throats. Might also be a good idea if we looked first in our own closets for skeltons before yapping on about others and theirs.

Fidel Castro probably has as much control of the goings-on at Guantanamo Bay as you, 2R have on the payscale of Air Canada pilots.

Castro has always rejected the US base on their island, a throwback to an era of colonialism, and now a place where the US seems to do their dirty laundry.

Good post LH,

Russia is still the subject of a lot of negative press in the west. For the westerners who know her, it is seen as relic of the cold war, and new cold war mongering.
If you study her history, she has always been scr*wed by others. Lenin was not a Russian, but a Georgian Jew! Stalin was a Ukrainian, and so on...
Putin is one of the first Ruusian to rule his own country since the Czars. He truly loves his country and her citizens.
Cheers,
На здоровье!
