heaven forbid, we ever take a little pride in our jobs. And with all do respect to all the firefighters out there, I understand from some friends that its not that easy to get into. But still I know a few of them who got in very young, right into there nice Salary and Benefits. We all know it doesn't happen that quick for Pilots. So whats wrong with taking a little pride in what you've gone through to get where you are. so what if you want a personalized plate. You see all sorts of other professions with personilized plates.
I can't believe this thread is still alive. If I was to get a personalized licence plate, it would be the registration of my aircraft. Sort of thing only another pilot would recognize. Shows pride in what you do, but in a subtle way.

All this talk about 'pride'... Isn't pride one of the seven deadly sins? Yes. I think that it is. And that's especially true in an airplane. I'd rather fly with a pilots that have humility over the ones that have glowing amounts of pride. Because those with humility are the ones that will admit to their mistakes before they dig a hole for themselves and their passengers and crew. My 2 cents.

A question of moderation, in my opinion. A pilot who takes a reasonable amount of pride in his job shows it by being very proficient and very professional, not arrogant. A pilot who has an unreasonable amount of pride thinks he's something special because he can fly, and tells absolutely everyone about it/him. I choose not to fly with the latter.
It is the difference between self-respect and arrogance.

Man, you guys are harsh. As long as your custom license plate is not on a baby blue 99 toyota you are doing alright! Just my opinion! Then again i drive a rusted out 88 grand prix that came out when i was 8 yrs old *laugh* I should probably shut up now....and start looking for a new car.....
Something like "luvflyin" is okay... well, they all are I guess... up to you. I think some are pretty cheesy though.
It's funny how everyone has seen or knows someone that's seen UB6 IB9... ... didn't know they could re-issue the same plate to thousands around the country.
I don't know what mine says... whatever they issued me. But I did get pulled over by OPP and mentioned who I worked for and they let me off a number of fines. Another time I got pulled over by the RCMP and they let me off as well. I think I just got two nice cops because normally everyone hates pilots... at least in pilot communities, like where I was pulled over.

Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do.

I have always wondered about that myself and i never admit to a cop that i fly i can just image them saying well lets just double that ticket for you then. Any one have any experiences with the police and getting out of something cause you are a pilot???
