Yea, this was pretty standard when I was working. We'd regularly have helicopters inbound from the west during IMC, and they'd happily (ok, maybe not happily) loiter 5 miles out waiting for the IFR aircraft to land. Takes about 5 seconds to politely request they remain clear of the extended runway centerline due to the traffic. I don't remember if it was specifically written into procedures or not (I've been out for 4 years), but it's common sense regardless. It was nice to see after we got radar that they actually did this too, and didn't cheat on the 5 mile zone either.av8tor604 wrote:don't you think it is responsibility of pilot and maybe even MF operator to remind VFR pilot to REMAIN CLEAR OF THE APPROACH AREA of the IFR aircraft inbound?
