I think the big difference now to when I was flying my buck 80 are the lack of mentors -- sure there were accidents but I don't think as many and I still have a vivid memory of the guys who kicked my ass -- in this generation of "blame the other guy" or "it's not my fault" with excuses ad nauseam or "damn i was fatigued" -- we only place ourselves in these situations -
Lack of command time but that's the nature of aviation today --
CRM - flawed -- it's lost it's direction - it was never intended to alter the chain of command - perception is-it has - it was supposed to make crews aware of their "resources" but not undermine the captain's authority - to me it's a benevolent dictatorship - nothing else --
To the old farts -- mentor the young lads and teach them from your "hurt locker" -- to you self centred young folks with the big egos, the ray bans and the flashy watches -- listen !!!!!!
One thing I have learned above anything else -- time marches on and we learn new things everyday - sometimes from the newbies cuz everyone is with stupid.
