HEY JC, you will never win. Living where you do now you have lost touch with winter in the "south". Maybe try guessing the ice out in the arctic. I'm guessing July 28th!

I seem to remember KAO was painted that colour when Austin owned it.

Ice will be done in the MacKenzie Delta by Monday.

Well... I'm at 51N and the ice won't be off the alpine lakes until summer. :D

Lake of the Hanging Glacier July 6 last year....

yeah, it's not been warm enough even for vegetarian pilots to be drinkin gin... maybe tomorrow. Nice photo Ifly, what elevation is that lake. Water looks pretty cold and a little thick in spots. But some good nuggets for niss, he wouldn't have to put his freezer on overtime parked down there.

I am, that's my breakfast cocktail.

My breakfast preference would be a Ceasar rimmed with a jumbo shrimp, celery stir stick maybe a dill pickle or hot pepper and big ole fresh oyster laying on the bottom. Sure saves eating. Looks like we might get above 30C today. Could be lead astray, and get into some juniper bush & tonic... lotsa ice and limes. Leaning toward the Tangueray. I'll finish my coffee first. Oh, this is way off topic. Ice is out in Muskoka, so are the blackflies and mosquitoes. Looking forward for the deer & horse flies to take over.

It's just over 7000ft. You can go in and out with a Super Cub or a lightly loaded 185 provided you watch out for icebergs. The water is extremely cold... you don't want to fall in.

There's never any ice at that latitude, and when there is they usually call in the Army.

Making those "hills" in the background 10 or 11,000' ? Nice looking goat country. Looks more cub-like than 185 at that elevation but I trust you in that you do go in and out of it. The lighting, fog, snow and clouds can be chaos on those high mountain lakes in cirque like environments, well any environment with the same factors but those rocks are hard. Beautiful country, looks like the kootnays? Since this is really off topic, check-out the new thread "some of my favourite spots" Hope everyone adds theirs.

Unfortunately I'm wheel-bound now and have only been there on foot. :(

But there are three American 185s on amphibs :!: that go through here on the way to Alaska each year and they've landed and obviously taken off there. It is Jumbo Mountain in the background at 11,217 ft.
