Next time Westjet, Honda or Apple goes on strike, I promise the government won't interfere.

Umm... are you sure about that? I did a search on that page for even just the word 'liberal' and it turned up nothing. Perhaps you meant the NDP, as there are countless references to them on that CUPE link. It only makes sense though as CUPE and the NDP share similar values.System Message wrote:If anyone seriously believes that union represents its members needs to read their own political action page. It is nothing but the strong arm of the Liberal party and openly threatens its own members.

Unions have had their say and stay.....time for them to suck it in and move on. Nobody should be held hostage, including business and the travelling public period.
How do you go 205 kts TAS on 32 gal/hr without turbos!

It is funny I should find this posted here this afternoon. I called my MP this morning to register my displeasure with the conservative party. I told them to stay out of the private sector and to let business take care of itself and solve it's own problems. I encourage everyone to do the same.
If you believe in the free market, tell the government to get out of the business of business.

Maybe not entirely on topic but I don't understand publicly funded pensions. Are you kidding me? Why do I have to bust my ass to save up a couple hundred thousand in my RRSP to enjoy a nice retirement while someone who worked at the city in accounts receivable gets a funded pension.
Paying taxes is evil. They should instead force you to invest your tax dollars (i.e. let's say you would have to pay $20k in taxes) in a business of your choice (or businesses). Everyone wins - small businesses, big businesses, you (potentially, if your investment flurishes).
Anyways, rant over.

How are Canada's millionaires suppose to become billionaires if the unions keep driving up the workers wages?

Finally received her response to my email:
I am pleased to respond to your correspondence, in which you express your views regarding the negotiations between Air Canada and the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Airline Division, Air Canada Component, Locals 4091, 4092, 4094 and 4095 (Flight Attendants).
With regard to negotiations, I am pleased to report that on October 20, 2011, the parties concluded a memorandum of agreement in which they agreed to a final binding mechanism process to resolve outstanding terms of the collective agreement under Section 79 of the Canada Labour Code. This process provided an opportunity for the parties to finalize their collective agreement through a neutral process.
On November 7, 2011, a final and binding determination regarding the unresolved issues between Air Canada and CUPE was rendered. It sets the terms of the collective agreement’s renewal.
Thank you for writing.
Yours sincerely,
The Honourable Lisa Raitt, P.C., M.P.

"People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public." - Adam Smith
In my grandfather's day, unions did much good. Today they are often adversarial, driving away or shutting down businesses, hampering go getters, and protecting those who do not perform as they ought. Many industries in this nation are bottled up by unions. If you land a job you are forced to join the union (no choice) and pay their dues. In many instances portions of these dues are further used to support political parties which the employee may have no interest in supporting... The SIU got it's power through plain hooliganism. They now have the West Coast under their thumb. Suffice to say, I'm generally, not a supporter of the unions of today.
