Joe has been pretty quiet lately too. No one seems to be held accountable for the 15 million lost with the Pluna disaster either. Hopefully CHR gets some competent management in to fix this place and mend the relationship with AC but I'm not holding my breath. :?

What you guys are trying to say is that Jazz doesn't look like a career move right now like it used to be..So we could expect a lot of movement from FOs leaving the ship, thus making positions available to new FOs but this has nothing to do with growth or attrition. As of now, Would you guys recommend your friends to make the move to Jazz in all honesty?

Still a great place to work, don't get me wrong but you won't likely see the company grow and if your goal is the left seat it might not be the place to go to. Decent pay, great benefits, excellent training, well maintained aircraft and great people to work with.

Right on, thanks! is there a chance Jazz could disappear one day, or it's "just" a matter of losing a few routes to SR?
When does the agreement between AC and QK getting renegotiated/renewed?
Hard to get valuable information from the outside.... :?

I definitely wouldn't recommend coming to Jazz now. Pay cuts will be coming and people being hired now could be laid off down the road.

Pay cuts? Not a chance. Little to no increases more than likely. Than again, we are the highest paid regional aircraft pilots in the country.

Block hour and pilot roster reductions? Maybe as Jazz transitions to less but larger aircraft with reduced frequency on some routes.

Jazz up and disappearing anytime soon, severely doubt it.

There will always be a need for FOs as people leave for bigger iron but most captains are here to stay.

Based on this post of yours onetreehill,
That's what I went through. Now I'm at WJ. Best thing that ever happened to me.
You might want to look out for your own icebergs, I wonder how much flying of Westjet mainline's, Encore will be flying next year. Don't worry though, I'm sure they will let you flow down.

The August bid will be out soon. That will show the hiring prospects/vacancies (if any) going forward. Usually if there are vacancies it won't be a few months until hiring resumes again in the early new year.

FYI...the news around the crew room is rumoured to be about 20-30 downgrades if there are no takers for the SLOA (Special Leave of Absence) or RTB's (Reduced Time Blocks). Lets keep our fingers crossed these positions can be saved... :smt014

Crew rooms, especially the yyz crew room, are the last place to get "news". They're venting areas for the perpetually negative types. I doubt there will be downgrades.

It would be nice to hear about these bids sooner than later so we know what's going on with our jobs!

I assume you would have a copy of the CBA between ALPA and Jazz? You can find the timeline for bids in there. Experience says that you will never see the bid published prior to the dates indicated, and have even been known to be later (mutual agreement between both sides). It is always frustrating waiting to see what's going to happen, but don't lose sleep over it!

Yeah, I do have the timeline.. When I said sooner than later, I was referring more to "right on schedule" than later due to mutual agreement!

But you're right, probably not worth it to lose sleep over it. Whatever's gonna happen is going to happen anyway.

Collective Bargaining Agreement.

The contract you work under, essentially.
