I got the P51. Which pleases me, as it's my idea of what an airplane should look like. Sorta like sports car design culminated with the Jaguar E-type and muscle cars with the AC Cobra. Everything since these three are meaningless.

Colonel Sanders may have not been excited by his flight in the Mustang but I'll reserve judgement until I get my own chance, hopefully this summer down in California. But then, I'm still young enough to enjoy sperm donations.

Heck I had a mini P51 zipping around on a string in my bedroom when I was 8, of course it would come up!

Too funny. Next time you take a dump on
me, recall how similar we are!

The P-51 was fast, but with that thin wing,
it didn't turn worth beans (disqualifying in
my book) and the controls were ridiculously
heavy at high speed (desperately needed
servo tabs) and it was a liquid-cooled,
overheating maintenance nightmare. Blech.

Like a one-night stand with a coked-out
supermodel, I don't regret it, but I sure
wouldn't want to spend the rest of my
life with one.

If someone gave me a P-51 I'd probably sell
it without flying it, so nothing expensive
would break before I could get rid of it.

It's a very crude airplane.

As the very old saying goes, you should never
meet your heroes. Disappointment inevitably
follows.

I like to fly fun airplanes. The P-51 was many
things, but fun certainly wasn't one of them.

He's a bit of an odd pilot (perhaps
unsurprisingly). He had a Pitts S-2B
a couple serial numbers off one of mine
that he taxiied into a wall.

He flies his P-51, shall we say, a tad
unconventionally.

I was about to say "is that safe, given that he believes he's from another planet". Then I remembered that my tailwheel instructor believes in aliens, and it didn't seem to affect his flying skills.

Sounds like a candy ass. I would have had a buddy light the wall on fire then FLY TROUGH IT!!

Of course later I would have to do the dangerous part. Try to land an S-2B.

Do recall that the modern Canadian military
is the brainchild of Pierre Trudeau's deputy,
Minister of Defence Paul Hellyer, who just
happens to be an insane UFO believer.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Helly ... ial_issues
In November 2005, he accused U.S. President George W. Bush of plotting an "Intergalactic War".
This is not terribly surprising, when you
remember that a long-ruling Liberal
Prime Minister of Canada, administered the
country on the advice he obtained from his
dead mother and dogs during seances.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Ly ... sonal_life
Privately, he was highly eccentric, with his preference for communing with spirits, including those of Leonardo da Vinci, Sir Wilfrid Laurier, his dead mother, and several of his Irish Terrier dogs, all named Pat except for one named Bob. He also claimed to commune with the spirit of the late President Roosevelt.
Gotta love that Liberal leadership legacy
of insanity throughout the decades.

I suppose that Conservatives believing in a Zombie Jew who came back to save us from doing bad things all because two naked people ate some fruit in a garden after being told to do so by a talking snake is just fine and dandy.....

The snake just told the woman to eat it. She then made the guy eat some. Women have been bad news since the first one.

Hang on, I've never gotten too riled up with ya Colonel, mildly disagreed perhaps but if anything that's most likely because we ARE more alike than not. God help us!

I'm way too cynical to be disillusioned by much of much - the pending P51 ride is more along the coked-up supermodel analogy than looking for a wife. The closing of a circle, if you will - had the poster on the wall, now get to spend one night with her. Hence it amused me that the quiz chose it for me.

Nothing you stated changes my opinion that it's still my benchmark for what an airplane should look like.

I literally tried to answer the stupid quiz to get the old man's favourite plane, the SR-22. Parachute, Kawasaki Ninja, all glass cockpit answers. I got the friggin Beechcraft Bonanza.

For fun, I went back to spoof the
quiz with the worst answers I could
think of. I tried to pretend I was
David Suzuki, to get the dorkiest
airplane they had.

Got Aviat Husky. WTF?!

Tweaked the answers, got Cessna Caravan (?!)

I give up.

For fun I went back to spoof the quiz with the most stereotypically Colonel-ish answers I could
think of, then this happened:

Fun fact: if you keep all the same answers but don't care what your wine costs it turns out you're more of a DA-40 kind of guy.

Go figure.
