the most demanding airplane I've flown, by far, was an M4 Maule
Oddly, the AvCan "hot sticks" will tell you that
they find them easy to fly. However, they almost
all get wrecked.

Norduyn Norseman Mk 5. Rudder every second of the flight, underpowered, a dog in hot weather and calm. No stall warning either, so if it shakes in a turn, ease off the tun a bit....

In all honesty the most demanding aeroplane I ever flew was a Cessna 170B on floats, simply because with me and my girlfriend at the time, some camping stuff, and enough gas to go anywhere sensible, its takeoff run was obscured by the curvature of the earth, and it usually needed to be hand-propped to get it going in the morning due to some electrical issue. But only if you were in the middle of nowhere. It started fine on its own in town. Despite its failings, I was in love with it.

I'm sort of feeling a combination of enviousness and also relief, that I never got to try a turbo-goose or a tracker. They sound like fun.
