The westjetters are pretty quiet today...

I guess your only choices now are Jetlines or Jet-Nude. :smt110

Their proposed business models are ultra-unbundling ULCC based. Pay for everything including carry-on and max capacity aircraft (for example 189 seats in a 737-800). The only consistently stated aim is the lowest possible base ticket price, the same business model as Spirit.

Talking about it, and having $60+ m in the bank to actually do it are two very different things.

There have been guys on the west coast talking about launching a new passenger only ferry service for at least 6 years. They periodically manage to convince the media to do a story on them.

It's the same deal. They hint at new, exciting low fares to drum up excitement in the face of BC Ferries. They make themselves available to news outlets desperate to fill endless hours of "local news". When they actually make the news, they strut around having convinced themselves that because they are in the news, they are somehow more legit than they were the day before.

It's been going on for years and they've ploughed thru a lot of private investors money without having delivered a thing.

Last time I checked, they aren't any closer to reality.

When push comes to shove they been unable to convince investors of either their plans viability or management's ability to actually pull it off under real world conditions.

Bags cost money. Carry on does not. (Added TOW) so why punish the one day/light traveller with the cost of a heavier aircraft?

Everything in this world is getting more expensive and perhaps this was a way to avoid increasing all fares.
In what kind of universe do bags add to TOW but carry on does not???
Your transferring the human capital costs of baggage handlers onto the Guest either directly (paying) or indirectly (carry on). No longer does the Check In Counter to Baggage Carousel process have to take place for X amount of luggage. The greater the decrease in checked luggage, the greater the savings realized for the airlines.
