Re: Air Canada Interviews
Do anyone know if April 16th groundschool is full? I have a medical this week, is it too close to be called for April 16th? or would May or June be more realistic. How long after the medical do they normally call?
Re: Air Canada Interviews
I interviewed in early Feb and haven't heard anything yet. Has anyone who interviewed around then heard back yet? Are PFO's being emailed or post mailed? Just trying to gauge where I'm at.
Any Help appreciated

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Similar problem here. Congrats to all the guys and girls getting the call. No one has any advice for those of us waiting to get noticed??willing to fly wrote:I am just wondering if anyone can provide some info on getting the call. I have 3500 hours TT, not quite 1000 MPIC over 12500 (haven't ticked off the check box yet), aviation college. At least four of my friends have had calls. Most with 500 hours more than I have but one had 500 less.
Any suggestions on how to stand out from the crowd of people like me?
Re: Air Canada Interviews
received this the other day but no news...
I guess the message is clear.

We would like to thank you for applying for the position of Pilot-CAN10061. We have received your application and are currently reviewing your experience and qualifications. A member of the Air Canada Recruitment Team will contact you should your profile corresponds to the requirements for the position.
Re: Air Canada Interviews
That message is generic, when you apply it is automatically sent to you. The "call" for and interview is very black and white "AIR CANADA IS CALLING FOR AN INTERVIEW" and dates are given to you in the email.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
With the possibility of the companies proposed contract being forced upon the pilot group, does anyone know the details for new hires?
I heard 4 year flat pay and no pension. Would existing junior pilots be grandfathered or would they be put on this new pay scale too?
It would be nice to know what some of us may be getting into before we quit our current jobs to come over.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Good questions Wheels.
The last proposal from the corporation had a slight increase on new hire flat pay in years 1 & 2 but it would be extending to 4 years total flat pay. When you calculate the flat pay income over 4 years vs the current system of 2 years flat pay and then 2 years of position or formula pay it is a further hardship for new hires.
Let me ask this to all those interested in joining AC.
Would you still apply to AC if you knew you would be hired, only to be furloughed 6 months later after productivity gains in a new contract created a surplus of bodies?
Sorry to throw ice water on the party but all the applicants need to ask themselves this question.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Oh my goodness! This is pretty scary stuff for a guy to leave a good job (for now keeping in mind nothing in Canada these days is a sure thing) and accept a AC hiring in the next short while! Its pretty sad when one has worked hard and finally got the offer with such turbulence and instead of being thrilled is pretty sick at heart not knowing what the hell to do??? Oh boy!!!yycflyguy wrote:Good questions Wheels.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
Interviewed January 19th
Cog test on Feb 13th
Medical Feb 28th
Call March 14 - April 16 GroundSchool
I was told they are only half way through the list calling and the class will be as big as 30. Very mixed emotions right now with everything going on!! I always wanted to fly for Canada's national carrier, Here is to hoping things turn around and get better!! It is a weird feeling getting a call finally and I really dont want to tell my buddies because they will think I am nuts!
I want to be proud to say I work for Air Canada! Time will tell I guess

I have been here 38 years and there has not been 1 second I have not been proud to say I'm an Air Canada Pilot. Enjoy a fabulous career. You will fly the world in great airplanes and it is by far the best place for a Canadian airline pilot to be.GeorgeQuebec wrote:Interviewed January 19th

I have been at Air Canada for 5 years, and have just updated my resume. I really doubt that I will still be here by the end of summer.
I wonder if Dave Legge still comes in the PIT course to tell you that you have reached the NHL of flying?

Re: Air Canada Interviews
All the very best to you in your new company. You will be among the very few that has actually left. I would suggest you talk to them and also to those that have returned after they left...This is a difficult time no doubt but as in the 75 years AC has been around it will pass. The industry changes and we must change as well...It's just reality...I'll never forget the day Eastern airlines signed a contract where one group passed the $100,000 barrier. The members were celebrating as to how they had won... Very soon thereafter Eastern Airlines was no more..3=47 wrote:I have been at Air Canada for 5 years, and have just updated my resume. Looking for input..I was called for the April 16 GS. I am really considering changing my mind. I have a pretty good job at the moment, and relative security, I can see from the posts on here that people are having second thoughts. Has anyone else said no, or changed there mind.

Re: Air Canada Interviews
How many pilots does AC expect to hire in the near future?
Re: Air Canada Interviews
Are they asking any new questions in the interviews or still the standard ones posted a while ago?

AC pilots please give some words of wisdom here as there are alot of young lads in great turmoil as to whether to leave their present employment to accept possibly 4 yrs of locked in dismal pay/likely no pension and potential layoffs not long after becoming operational. They for the majority have worked long and hard to get this offer and now its pretty confusing reading all these negative posts.
The guys need your input so they can make a decision soon to either come aboard the company they have worked so hard to get to or plan a new direction. The old timers were thrilled to get the call yrs ago hitting the big league but in 2012 its not the same feeling and thats sad. So please speak up and give your honest opinion. We all realize some of the chosen have quite good jobs now and some not quite so good which maybe makes it a little easier for the latter to say yes. Thanks and best of luck to all the present and future AC pilots. Blue skys...
