They won't be able to staff 80 fins either if something doesn't change. And the PAL deal is a violation of the CPA. ALPA will pursue it.
And PAL needs to staff their planes, and that isn't going to be easier.
We are being bullied, and where as I have no doubt we will be smaller, and the 220 will replace some RJ flying, there is still a requirement for us.
And all they have done with the PAL announcement is ensure that pilots leave even faster now. Those 6 planes, if they ever take flight, won't cover what we will lose on the next 6 months.
Air Canada plays dirty, that isn't a surprise. Doesn't mean this is going according to their plan either.
The only vote that is currently available to cast is with your feet. Shortfalls in overtime subscription or training volunteers would barely be noticed considering the overall staffing situation. Attrition, retention, and recruitment remain challenging with the current corporate strategy being to maintain status quo on WAWCON.
Even top scale CA are experiencing a significant degradation in QOL at Jazz due to the reduced flying which is dramatically inefficient (resulting in many more working days).
Less senior pilots are being told “pack your bags” for forced temp positions at other bases. Who signed up for that?
It has now reached a point where each pilot has to ask the question “why am I still at Jazz?”.
Every individual will have their own answer based on their own set of priorities and their own circumstances. But the level of discontent is rising further and further up the seniority list. And the offers away from Jazz are getting better and better.
