something like that happeded with me aswell, except it was ocas that was filing my transcript under the wrong spelling of my name (one t instead of two in Matthew). However, that is partly my fault i suppose, but after arraging to have 5 sent and calling 32432 times they realized the error.

I'm in the middle of the waitlist, guess I've to choose a flight school..anyway guys, I'm very new to Canada (actullay not moved yet)and saved 25.000 Dollars in my bank account...I guess flight Schools' expenses vary between 30 - 40 K..so considering my living expenses like rent, food etc..what would you do?..anyone can recommend a flight school in Southern Ontario or GTA..What about waterloo wellington...can I get a student loan for flight schools..(actullay I dont have a credt history in Canada)

AUGER9 are you serious that Confed is going to have a mifr program come 2010? Thats amazing but I'm still hoping to get in this year. However, If i dont thats a def. option, but then again I dont mind forking over the 8-10 000 to get it done in 2 weeks instead of an extra year assuming confed's program would also be extended an extra year.

Yep, best part is that they'll be doing that in addition to the float program. I do agree though that taking two weeks off at march break and doing the MIFR will probably cost less than another year + tuition in thunder bay, plus you're working a year sooner.
Either way, don't give up. It's well worth it in the end.

So they will have the float program where you can graduate after two years, and if you want to do the Mifr you would complete the additional year? That doesn't sound bad! Or is it going to be set up where they are going to have two sections from the start and take in double the current amount.

Have you already graduated, if so, from where and how did you find the difficulty of the program?

Im not sure on the details. I would think it would be something similar with the Sault program, only with floats included, and probably more efficient.

If it's possible, although probably too late by now, take a PPL ground school before you go so that you have the base knowledge before you do their PPL groundschool. Other than that, study your ass off and dont fall behind. They throw a lot of tests at you, sometimes you know, sometimes you don't, so you always need to make sure youre covered because they all add up in the end. STUDY!

To all waitlisted,

I was just wondering what everyone is doing if they dont get accepted this year? A number of options keep running through my mind and I'm just wondering whats going through all of your heads.

1. Take pre tech @ any college besides confed(to aviod taking woodworking and stuff like that)

2. Work for the year, finish up your PPL and re-apply next year.

3. Accepted/Accept and offer from another flight college.

4. Complete all training at a local flight school(if you can find a co-signer for a great lump sum of money)

That's exactly what I did. For me it was of the utmost importance to get my schooling finished ASAP. Definitely one of the main reasons why I chose Confed (other than the subsidies).

One thing that I think allot of people should know about confed but most dont is this.

ONE the fail out rate for the FIRST SEMESTER is about 1/3 (which is ridiculous)

In that semester you will have a substantial amount of money out of pocket, allot of it is ancillary stuff, residence (as almost everyone stays in res), food plan (which is over priced and you HAVE to have it if you stay in res), books, etc...oh yea and tuition, so it's a pretty penny. Also you only get about 15 hrs that semester, so hr to $ is high, fail out rate high. I think with the middle meal plan and single res and whatnot is was just under 10k so that's like $667 bucks to the college per hour for you (if that makes sense)

TWO Now if you get the boot, they will NOT refund the remainder of your residence or meal plan, hence most of the kids end up getting pushed to another program, this to me seems a little off.

THREE All of your grades will be decided by two tests at the end of the semester, both of these tests are worth the majority of your grade, most people find them harder then the majority of the classes, these tests dictate who stays and goes, you never get these tests back to see what you did on them, just a little note as to if your going to stay or not.
Another thing is that the dean of the flight program is not a pilot, his background is in MARKETING, yup marketing (he is responsible for allot of the articles you see online about people going right into the major airlines from college)

FOUR Now here is the thing, going to confed is a dice roll, the college does not have the resources to bring all the kids though first semester, so you have a 33% chance of loosing allot of money w/ only 15hrs to show for it, now if you make it past that...you will save some $$ from doing it privately... if you have the money do it privately, the degree is BS, if you really have a hard on for a degree just get one online or something.
