Re: Jazz Jazz Jazz !!
It sure is a rather rare occurrence, here on avcanada (the most reliable source for aviation news), when a topic heads off into a tangent.

Re: Jazz Jazz Jazz !!
I think it's time to revisit the original question of this thread and as I did I thought I could throw my two cents' worth into it. Being an ex Jazz myself perhaps helps the credibility of my opinion. There are many pilots who have made a great carreer at Jazz, many whom have been there since the seventies and are just retiring now. Are you going to make the most money staying at Jazz? No. But you can make a pretty good living at it. I've always believed that at the top salary levels, after we pay the tax man, we're all in the same boat, give or take. Can you have a good schedule at Jazz? Absolutely! Is the culture good at Jazz? Top notch. I made many friendships and got great support when I was there. There are people who leave Jazz for many different reasons which I will not get into because of the individual circumstances which in most cases don't reflect Jazz at all but rather a reflection of one's own ambitions. Mine was simply to fly bigger airplanes and see the world. I would say most left because of their frustration with the whole AC mainline saga rather than the Jazz itself. Jazz can offer a great professional and family life environment. Some of those who have left are now in deep need to tell the world why they left and how good they have it. Nobody's asking but you can bet they'll tell you anyway. Bottom line is do what's right for you and your family and not what the trolls say is best.

This thread has become like that old joke, How do you tell who is a pilot out of a crowd of 500 people........He will tell you he is a pilot

JAZZ was around in the 70'sThere are many pilots who have made a great carreer at Jazz, many whom have been there since the seventies and are just retiring now.

Re: Jazz Jazz Jazz !!
AirBC, Cdn Regional, Air Ontario, and Nova were around a loooong time... Though I'm not sure who was around the longest...KAFUFO wrote:JAZZ was around in the 70'sThere are many pilots who have made a great carreer at Jazz, many whom have been there since the seventies and are just retiring now.

Not sure about the rest, but Air Ontario was a ""collection" of airlines, one was owned by the Deluces, all had started in the seventies and prior. Mergers and buyouts have been around a long time. Careful what you say about your fellow pilot at another company, he may somday be your captain or checkpilot.

I just noticed Norfolk's "better dead than red" signature. Is that shit still going on?

Yes. And now it's a daily bashing of big red and how good things were at big blue. So good that, well, you know the rest of the story.
Re: Jazz Jazz Jazz !!
Well, from the sounds of it, they did have a great bunch of people working there, 'cept for the lack of profit part of the whole thing...

Most are great people as individuals, at least on the surface. I work with them all the time. As a collective group, well, different story. And they sure had some goodies in their contract. But you'll have to excuse me if I sound a little anoid at these very folk who for years had the sole ambition to run my company out of business and chanted certain slogans against the very hand that now feeds them. And to add insult to injury, I often hear some bitter resentment to being here even after having been saved from the brink!!! But, I must not stress out, "honey bring me my blood pressure pills". Now, back to the Jazz Jazz Jazz !!

Yup. That's the typical reaction. Denial helps I know. Gerry Schwarts or "somebody" would have saved you right? How many jobs would have been lost? Would you still have a pension? Would you be flying newer airplanes? Would your salaries have gone up the way they did when you first joined AC? Would you still be trying to bring big red down? Do you know what Onex is all about? Please, let's not attempt to rewright history on this forum. I have niether the will nor the time nor the stomach.Oh Boy.....

Most senior pilot a Jazz right now has been around since the late 60's.KAFUFO wrote:JAZZ was around in the 70'sThere are many pilots who have made a great carreer at Jazz, many whom have been there since the seventies and are just retiring now.

Austin Airways (which eventually became Air Ontario) has been around since the 1930,s, the same with Time Air, which eventually became Canadian Regional. Today all those companies have merged to become Jazz.........not that you'd care.
Man I really don't want to go there......oh well. Not to bash your group Tony but I feel the same way about your pilots. Most are great people as individuals, at least on the surface. I work with them all the time. As a collective group, well, different story.
True, Sad but True, However your group would do the same to us if you had the chance.....but lets not go there. But you'll have to excuse me if I sound a little anoid at these very folk who for years had the sole ambition to run my company out of business and chanted certain slogans against the very hand that now feeds them.
Maybe one days this will end, either through solidarity

Would you like to agree to disagree now, or go through 5 pages of debate to do so. Obviously, your version of history is different than mine.tonysoprano wrote:Yup. That's the typical reaction.
