Trust me it is not a great place for a vacation....and for sure your wife/girlfriend would not like it there.
Not necessarily, I lived in Saudi for 5 years and had a great time. My mom and my sister loved it, and they lived there even longer. Nothing better than an authentic Saudi shawarma!!! (and yes that's a Saudia Tristar in my pic 8) )

I think 9/11 can best be summed up by watching Canadian Bacon. If the US doesn't have an enemy, they will make one.

Long live the South Terminal, where I can carry a whole tube of toothpaste in my backpack and walk from the plane to outside the terminal in 30 seconds. Or less than 5 minutes if I checked a bag.
Well Said, especially about the Canadian Bacon part. Hopefully that will change with Obama !

Auxbat, the whole thing about the training as my entire point. Why have all of those suspicious events happen simultaneously? I mean it isn't a coincidence that more than a few activities were scheduled on that day which lead to limitations of efficiency to deal with the problem.

They train every day. Don't see what's wrong or different than any other day. I doubt that the President decides when they Air Force does training and when they don't... There is a chain of command, for a reason. And if the order was given from the very top, I can guarantee you that it would be known today. I'm sure someone would have come out. There are always aircrafts and pilots ready to go, no matter if there is an exercice or not. What failed is the communication between FAA and DoD. 2 F-15s were scrambled to the NY scene but were there too late.

Not matter what happens, there will always be conspiracy theory. In that case, they don't make any sense whatsoever. Heck, even Osama accepted responsability for the attacks.

L1011, we all have our own likes and dislikes when it comes to different cultures and regions of the world.

For sure there will be lots of people who will like living in Saudi Arabia but my wife sure did not like it, maybe it was because she only had a week there and did not have time to adjust to being a female in a country that has different rules that limits their activities? But I did comment that she looked good dressed in black.

Me I didn't have the same restrictions she had so I could rent a car and drive to the airport every day and work on the airplane parked out on the ramp in the blazing sun at 50+ C.

Also in that there was very little in the way of entertainment such as movie theaters we could stroll up the block and watch a beheading a couple of times a week if we were really bored.

The most difficult thing about flying is knowing when to say no.

After over a half a century of flying I can not remember even one trip that I refused to do that resulted in someone getting killed because of my decision not to fly.

CATSA.......or, what happens when you give people "in country" for a few months, with a Grade SIX education, POWER. Maybe we should all be forced to bend over and spread 'em instead of wasting our time going through all the absolute bull shit we're forced to deal with at airports now? I would WAY rather just drive my frikken car!

CATSA blows! You can thank your MP for that fact.

I had the joy of flying out of the big center of Deer Lake recently. Seems I was randomly picked for exibit "A" as I watched my flight take off in front of my poor little eyes. The nice security worker spent about 10 minutes patting down my collar & pant legs. I told him... "Why don't we just throw the laundry though the damn X-Ray!!!?" I was starting to think he liked me. Anyway, my carry on bag had a DVD player, Ipod, Cell phone & yes, complete with cords, wires, chargers & batteries! They saw the need to un-plug everything, pull the batteries, shake it & power it up, etc. At this point I just gave up & went with it as my flight was now the size of a little black fly heading off to Toronto.
I eventually made it to Toronto, where I tried to merge back on to my original flight. The lady said, "Oh No!" you can't travel on a different aircraft than your luggage. I wanted to ask her, What the F'k happens when you morons loose a suitcase? They do loose luggage sometimes right??
Anyway, to the A$$ is Deer Lake, Screw you! - Dork.

- Ask me sometime about the 8 hour lay over I had in YYZ. Someone gave me a pass to the "Maple Leaf Lounge" - Gold Class lounge with unlimited beverage & food. :)
