if this is true then it is quite odd as i suspect that any students that graduated last year have found a job or left aviation and any students that will graduate this year have yet to complete their MEIFR.

Dont feel too bad Jay. If they've already set up an interview with you then that's good news. Youre probably one of the first to have been called for an interview, hopefully if it all works in your favour you could be sitting in one of the first groundschools.

As far as i know the "college kids" have worked out just fine. So get used to the fact that some are already working at Jazz and IF you get hired you will encounter them from time to time. I sure hope there would be no disrespect shown to any fellow Jazz pilots in the crew rooms just 'cuz they came from the college batch.

Not sure, the only numbers Ive heard are that we will be hiring anywhere from 40-60 pilots, running 1, maybe 2, courses per month with 8-10 people in each.

And may the lana be with you, you dirty bastard!!

There are NO plans to hire from the college's now or in the future.

For the future at least, Jazz will be hiring real pilots.

The monkey who came up with that plan is no longer at Jazz, and it has
lost considerable steam since his departure.

Thank God.

Rumour is that new hiring may be for increasing pilot base to cover a supposed new contract and type of aircraft.

Rumours are just that.. but I love'em.

Actually new hiring is to cover increased flying from AC this summer. Don't count on this new aircraft rumour...Transat is suffering and will probably do it themselves IMO.

Last summer (2008). they did run another "Jazz Award" class where they invited the top grads from each school to do a 1 week seminar. However since there was no hiring at Jazz at the time, they were given the "thanks for coming out and good luck with your career" speech at the end. To my knowledge, (speculation) they were not given any guarantees as far as future emplyoment with Jazz.

Like mentioned before, I don't think they will be hiring them due to the fact that most by now have found other jobs. Not to say they will never be hired. They will have to apply again and.....

Also like Obbie said, there are no plans to run another "Jazz award".

Hi everyone, I went to the interview yesterday, and I think it went well. They asked me to send over my references, which I did, but does anyone remember how long after the interview they got the call to go to sim? I know they're holding more interviews next week, so am I going to have to wait until those are done as well? It hasn't even been a day yet and I can't stand the wait not knowing if they will call or not...

From the CP: Pay is 36,000K, lots of benefits: some kick in after 6 months, others after a year. Travel passes right away for yourself, don't remember about the uniform, I would think they'd pay for that though.

I applied with 2400hrs, 500 multi pic on turbine and an ATPL.

Last year, I interviewed early december, sim mid december, medical early january, reference check mid january, offer late january, course date mid february. They were flexible too with offering sim and medical dates, so if your schedule isn't too free they'll do their best to work with what you got and will try to accomodate you.

Only 40 being hired (as of now). That is from someone 'in the know' directly.

Everybodys wait for the sim and medical seem to be different. If they are trying to fill a spot for an upcoming groundschool things could happen very fast.
I was told to bring my references to the interview, was called the next day to book a medical only a few days later and did a sim within a week of that. I think from the initial call to book the interview to the first day of groundschool was a month.

Thanks C-HRIS and Stinky for your answers; at the interview the CP told me the entire process could take from 6 to 8 weeks, with a GS in early April being most likely. It will be a huge relief if and when I get a sim date, I know that for me the biggest hurdle was the interview.

How many looks total on workopolis before getting a call? 3, 6, 9 ??
Trying to make an average.
I have a running application and got 3 looks since Jan and 3 before the music stopped last year.
Thanks for your pointers.

Things can't be all that good for Jazz. They've reduced capacity almost 12% and they're still hiring???!

Thanks Mclovin for the encouragement, it doesn’t seem like a straight pattern, how many have been called up to now? I know that they’re looking for guys on the line before the summer season so will keep those fingers crossed and hope for that call.
Cheers

Much of the YOY capacity cuts from AC have been reinstated for the summer flying season. In addition, many Jazz pilots are now 'part-time' thanks to the aforementioned capacity cuts and furlough mitigation initiatives that cannot be reversed.

Heard from a good source that quite the opposite is true...we'll see.
