Re: Porter
In a recent article in the Chicago Tribune written by Josh Noel, (can anybody please provide link), a journalist described his experience onboard with only (2 people). The journalist interviews a gate agent stating that sometimes they leave with 0 pax on board.
After comparison with publicly available T100 data, one can observe that YTZ-MDW with Porter has less than 20% load factor.
I wonder how long PD can keep this up, and if MDW does not work, how will BOS and others to follow?

Re: Porter
Its true, MDW has been a struggle but the loads on average are increasing month by month. Porter is in no danger of losing this route. Passenger loads as low as stated in that article were the norm as first but now are rare. We are very close to a consistent break even point with that route.
As far as BOS is concerned, it has been Porter's most successful US route to date with Loads from the start well above break even point. BOS and EWR have had their frequencies increased as a result of their success. MDW is the only route that we are waiting for it to perform well consistently.

Re: Porter
Not really on topic I guess, but the success of porter is not at all surprising.
With my previous job I was flying to Montreal every month.
I live in Mississauga, 10 minutes from YYZ. Yet I would take a Porter flight instead.
Better and quicker service no messing around at pain in the ass Pearson, and free booze!

Does the free booze have anything to do with the "previous" part of that sentence?

No embezziling CEO and bankruptcy handled that one pretty nicely.buss wrote:With my previous job I was flying to Montreal every month.

It did help when being with clients from out of town though. Everyone was amazed there was an air carrier that still offered that.
