AirSprint?

Re: AirSprint?
Hello everyone just wanted to throw my two cents in.....
AirSprint is a fractional company and not corporate. Both types of operations share similar interests, therefore, they are comparable but not exactly matchable. They fly for many executives making the job slightly challenging than flying for one individual. Usually when flying for one executive, pilots become very familiar with the airports since they don’t always change. With respect to fractional you have 50-100 clients all with different interest and requests. So that comes with some extra work. That being said I highly doubt "no one wants to hire AirSprint Pilots". Agree or am I in left field?
Now that I’ve been employed by the company for 6 years I kinda know how this business works. From corporate to fractional truthfully we all usually fly into the same strips and share the same hotels and FBO's...KTEB, KLGA. KMIA, KPBI, KLAS, KFLL, KSFO, KLAX, KSNA...Hiltons, Marriots, Signature, Atlantic Aviation bla bla bla bla bla......anyways my point is I meet many pilots and still the first question they ask when it comes to a job is "how much jet time do you have?” I never hear do you have a University or College Degree; NEVER NEVER NEVER. I've also noticed big corporate gigs require a pilot to have experience in Private Aviation, however, that’s not always the case but it does help.
With regards to the whole comment Pilots are not going anywhere at AirSprint, that’s not exactly true. Many Jet Captains are doing okay and it’s hard to leave when you’re making 85-95K per year. Yes I would like to see them making 130K, however, the company is not there yet. Its 10 years old. Still needs more time. I worked construction before aviation for a rich man, but it took him 17 years before he hit the jack-pot. That’s not 17 years of school and work combined together, that’s 17 years of back breaking work before the big contracts were assigned by builders. Before than it was pay check to pay check. In addition he didn’t speak any English when he first arrived in Canada which is the same year he started his business. Anyways guys and girls, my hope is that everyone in aviation can make a lot of money. I’m just a line pilot that has the same hopes and dreams as everyone else. AirSprint is a good company and management is working on making this job a place to stay. If the company was shit I wouldn’t have any problem saying so in this thread. Take care everyone and remember we all work on the same team.

I see Sprint is looking for an FO in YUL. Expansion maybe? Anyone throwing their hat in the ring?
Re: AirSprint?
The fact that Airsprint HR posted here really speaks well to their philosophy of creating an atmosphere that pilots want to stay in. It shows me that Airsprint has some people working for it that have enough insight to keep themselves informed about their potential workforce. As far as I'm concerned, this website is the only one worth a pinch of coons**t regarding Canadian aviation. I would like to see a forum just for airline HR departments for questions to be asked. Right now there is a lot of speculation and third-hand knowledge. It would be nice to hear it straight from the horse's mouth. Cudo's to you AirsprintHR for showing some foresight and stopping all the rumours that lack of knowledge tends to create. My challenge is to other airline HR departments to get active here. You will undoubtedly get better applicants if we all clearly know what you want and what you have to offer. It would save time and frustration for both the applicants, as well as the companies hiring. Again, good on ya AirsprintHR!

Re: AirSprint?
It is a combination of 1 new XLS Captain spot, new DFO freeing up a Lear spot, and some attrition that has resulted in base change requests and some hiring.locs_alive wrote:I see Sprint is looking for an FO in YUL. Expansion maybe? Anyone throwing their hat in the ring?

Re: AirSprint?
Hello from Sunny Arizona!
I first want to say I apologize for being a pilot from the US coming on a Canadian board, but I am very interested in AirSprint US. Unfortunately I have found very little info on our typical pipeline of knowledge here in the US. I stumbled across this thread and must say I am extremely impressed to see an HR rep of AirSprint is speaking candidly with everyone.
To AirSprint HR, as far as the information you have shared with the community regarding AirSprint, would all of that be mirrored with your US based operation in SDL? I am a current regional jet First Officer with over 3300 hours jet second in command time. I am looking for an operation that might suit my personal and professional goals a bit more than the airline industry. This is where AirSprint might be a good fit. If I were to be fortunate enough to join the team in Scottsdale, most likely would I be hired into a First Officer spot with nearly 3600 total time? Is it possible to have a direct entry captain spot in SDL, and if yes would my times qualify for such a position?
To anyone else in the know about the lifestyle at AirSprint. 10 on 5 off... realistically what does this 10 day stretch look like on average? Are you flying the majority of the time? How often would you see home during that 10 day stretch? Are the reserve days blocked out in hourly periods like a 0400-1600 time frame? Finally has AirSprint ever had any furloughs since its start up?
I thank you all for welcoming me, and supplying any information you may have.
Best regards,
Cactus

Send an e-mail to James Elian (jae@airsprint.com) and he'll get back to you with some information.Cactus88 wrote:Hello from Sunny Arizona!

Some quick info though:
- Mostly mirrored (no jets) but as we just received FAA 91K certification on June 10th we are still in the startup phase of getting pilots trained etc. Until the initial pilots are fully trained, the 10-5 schedule will not be in effect. We do want to start it ASAP though.
- Average flight time of our Captains in the US is 7000 hours. I imagine that with expected growth we will need to hire some direct entry Captains over the next 12 months in addition to upgrading First Officers. I can't speak to your specific situation without seeing a resume.
- In Canada, right now we have 1 pilot (out of about 75) that has been away from home for more than 183 days in the last 365. Some stretchs of 10 days are busy, and some are not. Right now it is busy in Canada, but there are times of the year when things slow down. Canadian duty times are different so I'll refer you to the e-mail above.
- In March of 2009, AirSprint placed around 8 pilots on layoff due to reduced flying.

Re: AirSprint?
We do not currently have any flight benefits other than permitting our employees and their families/friends to travel on our empty legs free of charge. We have a significant number of empty legs due to the nature of our operation, however, they are unscheduled and can change last minute.Otterski wrote:Is there a jumpseat agreement or other flight benefits with airlines?
