I was willing to give this person the benefit of the doubt and accept his point of view as a decent counterpoint to what most of us have been though.
sure you were

Seems like he has time to go digging through the archives to prove he's "right", but still no answers to the NG line questions or what OT really means.

Just wants it all to go away now.

Seriously though, do you comprehend how idiotic you've looked in the entire thread? 'cause if you don't you are by yourself.

Taking bets...

Well I think you're the one that looks that way because you completely took what I wrote the wrong way...but that's usually how you read it so...

Please tell me where I looked idiotic...explain.

Have you missed TS' s rant?
I look idiotic?
but still no answers to the NG line questions or what OT really means.
What questions? What's the first thing you do before you change a hydraulic component? That question? It's a very subjective question...

Well, I usually like to go and take a huge dump in the lav 'cause if I'm working on the hydraulic system that usually means I'm not working on the shitter and someone else is gunna wish they weren't.

...and that's elementary

Maybe the "windmill" manager will tell us what he would do.

...see what i did there?

what does it mean when the engine won't start? Ha...out of fuel!
Why do you set the brake before doing a wheel change? So the tire won't roll away!
What do you do if the Windshield Heat caution illuminates? Put black electrical tape over it!

There...now I'm not answering anymore stupid questions.

Oh...and OT means "On Time"
Nobody should get paid extra for getting to work somedays "On Time"...that's just silly

Yeah..thats what I thought.

Charlie Brown teacher voice of a reply.

One easy tip, change " not answer any more stupid questions" to " not answer any more questions stupidly", you'd be in sync with the rest.

You're offended by this? I find it interesting that you have inferred so much from that one statement.....uggh, I feel like I am sounding like you here now.

You may find it hard to believe I know, but I have been giving you the benefit of the doubt all along. That is, until yesterday.

I'm offended you'd think I'm so naive.

You're in TS's camp, you only show up when he and I are going at it and take his side. That's the only time I hear from you...what else would I think?

...and what changed your mind yesterday? That I won't answer a question that TS is trying to ask? I did.

Look, why is it a requirement the an E has to answer a question about a procedure that is clearly under the M skill set?
I'll tell you why...because after the E has cleared all of his snags he's usually helping the M change the damn Hydraulic component...so he would know

But the other way around? Forget it

And what kind of a question is "What's the first thing you do when...?

Breathe in...then out...then my heart beats again...then I blink...then....

NeverBlue,

I can post the answers to my questions if you'd like. All the answers are to show how experience will save you loads of time when you have a short period to get the plane airworthy again. That is what Line Maintenance is. At no point did anyone in this thread bring up avionics or what you can do (until you did), you are the one that said 737NG Line maintenance was "soooooooo difficult" and were being condescending. That is why I posted those questions, I wanted to show you that it can be difficult and not everyone could step into that role and succeed.

The AMM is not going to help you find the problem, it will show you how to change components and test what you have done. You cannot rely on the manual for every single task or problem you face when you are a Line Engineer, it would simply take to long. So this brings me back to the wage, $36/HR for an experienced 737NG AME is low balling at best since most 737 guys at various operators are already at or above those numbers already and they get benefits and vacation...the whole point of contracting is you get financially compensated above market value because you do not receive any benefits or have any real guarantees that you will have work past a certain period.

Contracting is a different gig there is no doubt about it, so why chime in on this subject when you stated that you have never been a contractor? Also, why chime in when you are not even qualified for that position?

If I posted the answers to my questions you would see they are not subjective, that would mean there could be more than one answer depending on who is doing the task. There is only one answer to each of my questions.

So what angle are you taking? The $36/HR wage is fine or that 737NG line maintenance is easy? Forget all the other banter, I just want to know and then we'll get more focused. I think we should just rule out that 737NG Line Maintenance is easy, because you know that is not true...right? So the wage then...why does that not warrant more discussion?

this is my chime

ANY AME M2 who has work on a 767NG flight line maintenance crew for 6-12 months full time could walk into that job.

Why? because it's not that hard

Then answer this one
You gotta change a hydraulic component (name one)....what is the first thing you should do?

I'll give you credit, you had that one ready to go and I fell for it. It does nothing for your saving face or making a valid point, it just makes you look worse. Trust me, this is exactly what I was hoping for

I guess I would have to dumb down the question a bunch in order to get a correct response from you. Subjective does not encompass stupidity, if a 1st year apprentice asked me if he had to remove head-pressure from the system to change an HCP I would never let him touch anything important again....and coming from someone like yourself who says they have 20 years experience in aircraft maintenance would actually put forth that as being subjective is down right embarrassing to the trade.

oh and just so you know it is not called the HCP on the 737....that is subjective...you see?

now that I am on to your game, you wanna do another one?

Maybe for you 212 but I'm having fun.
Which would you think is more of a challenge to maintain on the flight line an S76A or 737NG?

TS you're killing me man.
How does one dumb down "What's the first thing you do before you change an Hydraulic component?"
Maybe with "What's the second thing you do before you change a Hydraulic component?"
Ya...that's it.

Soooo you fell for it even though you were expecting it?

...and by HCP I was refering to both panels, Mr. "Hydraulic component"
Stupidity?
