Re: The Bum is dead!!!!
You know you've screwed the pooch pretty badly when the Afghan government is criticizing you:
The Canadian Press wrote:Afghan official says Pakistan must have been aware bin Laden was living in military town
By Heidi Vogt,Rahim Faiez, The Associated Press | The Canadian Press – 33 minutes ago
KABUL - The Afghan government said Wednesday that Pakistan must have known Osama bin Laden was living in a military garrison town near the capital, echoing international suspicions about Islamabad in the aftermath of the deadly strike against al-Qaida's chief.
The two countries have long had tense relations, especially over the issue of Pakistan failing to target Taliban militants using its territory as sanctuary to launch cross-border attacks against Afghan and international forces.
"Not only Pakistan, with its strong intelligence service, but even a very weak government with a weak intelligence service would have known who was living in that house in such a location," said Defence Ministry spokesman Gen. Mohammad Zahir Azimi.
The house where bin Laden lived in the town of Abbottabad was close to the gate of the Kakul Military Academy, an army run institution where top Pakistani officers train, Azimi said, adding that many neighbouring houses are home to military officials.
"There are lots of questions that need answers," Azimi said.
Others have made similar remarks.
Britain's Prime Minister David Cameron said Tuesday that bin Laden must have had an extensive support network in Pakistan in the years before his death. And White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters that the U.S. is committed to co-operating with Pakistan despite questions about who in the Islamabad government may have known bin Laden was in hiding in the compound in Abbottabad.
Afghan officials have long said that the real war against terrorism is not in Afghanistan, but across the border in Pakistan. And while they have welcomed international troops who are fighting back the Taliban insurgency in Afghanistan, they have also criticized these forces for backing a Pakistani government that Afghan officials say is double-dealing.
Azimi went on to say that Afghanistan is bracing for revenge attacks following the bin Laden strike, but expects that the al-Qaida leader's death will eventually make it easier to defeat the Taliban.
The nearly 10-year war in Afghanistan started as a manhunt for bin Laden in 2001. Many inside Afghanistan and in foreign countries fighting the war have raised questions about whether his death will shorten or ease the battle with the Taliban insurgency, but the U.S. and others pledged there wouldn't be a rapid withdrawal.
On the day that bin Laden's death was announced, Afghan President Hamid Karzai called it a blow to terrorism but made no predictions about how it would affect the war in his country.
Azimi, for his part, predicted al-Qaida revenge attacks in the immediate aftermath of the terror chief's death.
"The first phase will be for a short period of time, a revenge phase in order show that even if he is gone, others are keeping the network together," he said, adding that Afghan security forces have already increased their presence in key areas and their readiness in anticipation of such attacks.
"Then slowly the situation will become more normal and that will start to show how Osama's absence effects the structure of the network," Azimi said.
International forces say a persistent campaign against insurgents over the summer has driven them out of their traditional strongholds and destroyed the weapons caches they depend on to mount their seasonal spring offensive.
The Taliban, however, have started the spring fighting season with high-profile attacks apparently designed to show their strength and their ability to infiltrate the government. In April, the insurgent group launched deadly attacks from within the Defence Ministry in Kabul, the main police headquarters in southern Kandahar city and a joint U.S.-Afghan base in the east. The militants also managed to break more than 480 of their compatriots out of the Kandahar city prison with an elaborate tunnel escape.
On Wednesday, U.S. officials confirmed that two rockets had struck inside Bagram Air Field — the main U.S. base in Afghanistan — the night before.
The strikes resulted in only "a couple very minor injuries," said Lt. Col. Patrick Seiber, a spokesman for U.S. forces in the east. He also noted that rockets hit inside Bagram about once every two or three weeks.
But the strike are a reminder that violence continues unabated in Afghanistan despite the removal of bin Laden.
Separately Wednesday, NATO forces rejected accusations that they had killed a private security guard under contract to protect a road travelled by their supply convoys. The international military coalition said that the man who was killed was not working for a security company and was a militant involved in setting up an ambush.
Afghan police and the man's alleged employer — Watan Risk Management — have maintained that it was a Watan guard who was killed while trying to protect the road.

Dash-Ate wrote:Here is the time-line on claims of Osama bin Laden’s death since 2002.
July, 2002 FBI counter-terrorism chief Dale Watson tells a law enforcement conference: “I personally think bin Laden is probably not with us anymore, but I have no evidence to support that.”
August 2002, an American radio host Alex Jones announces, citing high-level Bush administration sources, “that bin Laden died of natural causes and that his family has given the body to the CIA.” Jones added, “they’re gonna roll him out right before the election, he’s on ice right now.”
May, 2003 French military analyst name??announces that bin Laden was killed in an American air raid in Tora Bora shortly after the invasion of Afghanistan in 2001.
February, 2004 Iranian Radio reports that bin Laden was captured in the Afghan-Pakistan border area “a long time ago”—but the official announcement was delayed because “Bush is intending to use it for propaganda maneuvering in the presidential election.”
April, 2005 The Israeli press picks up an account from a radical Muslim London newspaper: “We now report that the al-Qaeda organization has announced the death of Osama Bin Laden.”
September 2006 French intelligence document says that Saudis believe bin Laden had died of typhoid in Pakistan.
June 2008: Citing two unnamed officials, Time magazine reports that a recent CIA study has concluded bin Laden has long-term kidney disease and “may only have months to live.”
April, 2009 President Asif Ali Zardari tells the media that his country’s intelligence services “obviously feel that (bin Laden) does not exist anymore”.
Finally on May 2, 2011 American President Barak Obama announces that the U.S. killed bin Laden in Pakistan.
How many of those were from RELIABLE sources in the KNOW with any shred of PROOF??

I'm sure they'll release the kill-shot photos soon.

Re: The Bum is dead!!!!
Why the multiple versions of events? You would think that they would have reviewed the tapes, and “got their stories straight” before trotting out to the media and addressing the American people. This administration is embarrassing.

Report: Bin Laden Already Dead
Wednesday, December 26, 2001
E-MailRespondPrintShare:
Usama bin Laden has died a peaceful death due to an untreated lung complication, the Pakistan Observer reported, citing a Taliban leader who allegedly attended the funeral of the Al Qaeda leader.
"The Coalition troops are engaged in a mad search operation but they would never be able to fulfill their cherished goal of getting Usama alive or dead," the source said.
Bin Laden, according to the source, was suffering from a serious lung complication and succumbed to the disease in mid-December, in the vicinity of the Tora Bora mountains. The source claimed that bin Laden was laid to rest honorably in his last abode and his grave was made as per his Wahabi belief.

You need to have a lung complication of your own to believe that....
Geez did I say that....? Or just think it....?
Re: The Bum is dead!!!!
The way it is, " washing out" they may have got him. If the neighbors are mostly high ranking military officials, they knew who was living there. As the Pakistan Government hasn't come out to say, " that wasn't Osama Bin Laden" - then it appears as if they are conceding it was.

I think in these situations, the most important thing to us is showing religious respect.
Therefore, the raid was done between prayer times... NOT during! And when Osama was shot in the face, he was facing westward. I'm not sure that's actually religiously important, but if it is, then, yes, he was doing that. And when he was shot, the traditional Muslim expression of "Allahu Akbar!" was shouted -- except it was an English translation, so it was something like, "Thank you, Jesus!"

Re: The Bum is dead!!!!
So now the rapidly changing information says that rather than several armed men firing RPG's from the rooftops and room by room battles, only one person was armed and was killed early. No one else opened fire. Ok so they got their man after 10 years (or 30 years if youre russian) but the big hollywoodesque description? please. How about some perspective. Why spoil the moment with all that self masturbatory overly dramatic fictional account of events? I thought I was reading the old testament. Some event of profound historic importance turned into a B action movie just to stoke the spirit and ego of the masses? Oh well the SEALs had their moment, their biggest achievement being they were able to helicopter in a group of 24 men and take on one armed man and leave with (most of) their helicopters. Not bad.
Re: The Bum is dead!!!!
Bin Laden got started on his infamous career fighting the Russians in Afganistan. He was funded by the CIA and the Saudi government. That is not conspiracy theory BS it is true and easily researched.
He led one of many Jihadist groups fighting the Russians. They were based out of Pakistan and would cross over into Afganistan fighting the Soviets. Eventualy the Taliban became the leading Jihadist faction fighting in Afganistan and ultimately formed the "government".
The next major use of Bin Laden, by the West, was getting him to organize and recruit volunteers to go into Yugoslavia and stir up trouble with the Serbs. Remember that war? That is the one where the Moslems were supposed to be the good guys.
I believe he was killed recently as he had outlived his usefullness. If he really expected to be taken out I would think he would have had been a little more prepared. He was living only a few blocks away from a Pakistani military academy.
The Pakistani secret service is reportedly one of the best in the middle east so I am sure they knew he was there all along.

Exactly. People have very short memories. Kosovo has turned into a human trafficking and drug trafficking center. Members of the KLA [Kosovo Liberation Army] have been in Haiti helping to establish a government there for the past decade. Seems to be going well. At least they have the dope dealing and prostitution sewn up.North Shore wrote:And dead men tell no tales....I believe he was killed recently as he had outlived his usefullness.

Dash-Hate will be happy now that a reliable and trustworthy sources have confirmed the death of OSB
http://www.cnn.com/2011/WORLD/asiapcf/0 ... tml?hpt=T1
Read the entire article here(CNN) -- Saber-rattling al Qaeda warnings against the United States emerged Friday as Osama bin Laden's killing yielded a trove of ominous intelligence, including details about a possible attack on the 10th anniversary of 9/11.
Al Qaeda, the bin Laden terror network that masterminded the deadly attack on the U.S. 10 years ago, confirmed its leader's death on Friday in a Web statement, using that opportunity to taunt and threaten the United States.
"Sheikh Osama didn't build an organization that will vanish with his death or fades away with his departure," according to the statement, which CNN could not independently authenticate.
The statement, which congratulates the "Islamic Nation on the martyrdom of their devoted son Osama," repeated themes and threats made over the years in al Qaeda statements, before and after the September 11, 2001, attacks.
"The blood of the mujahed sheikh, Osama bin Laden, may God have mercy on him, is very dear to us and more precious to us and to every Muslim from being shed in vain," the statement said. A mujahed is defined as a Muslim engaged in what he considers to be jihad.

Re: The Bum is dead!!!!
Actually my memory goes back further than 2011. Bin Laden was your guy not ours. Yemen was the first Arab country to expel him, in 1989, followed by Saudi Arabia the following year. He then had his citizen stripped and was disowned by his family. He used his millions to buy some influence and a place under the sun in Sudan. Until they kicked him out. He went back to Afghanistan in 1996 when n oter Arab country would take him because they were obliged to have him after he served there for ten years. The first international arrest warrant was issued for him that year -by Libya. All the while he was the darling of the west. As far as most Arabs are concerned the whole Bin Laden/Bush thing is a internal squabble that has nothing to do with them. The CIA created that monster, but as usual they didnt bother to read Frankenstein to the end.

Al-Qaeda's branch in Yemen confirmed the death of bin Laden four days ago, after speaking to their contacts in Pakistan.
A spokesman for al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) said they were devastated at the news.
"This news has been a catastrophe for us. At first we did not believe it, but we got in touch with our brothers in Pakistan who have confirmed it," a member told the AFP news agency.
no sig because apparently quoting people in context is offensive to them.
