Navajo pilot pay...?
So... what does a Navajo Captain make flying scheduled service out of a major Canadian city make these days?
Just trying to get an idea of the salary market out there???

Single pilot ifr? Two crew? West coast?
I had a SPIFR Navajo gig up north last year and made over 52k.

I wouldn't use the west coast for any sort of comparison. I think it starts around 32..

I've been hearing $2800-$3600/month on the west coast in the left seat.... anyone from the Orca or KD have any comments?

Ok this was 1989. The company was Weagamoe Air. PA31 Captain 1200 base and 20 cents a mile!
It was easy to make 5000 a month.
Of course I left to join canadian partner on the J-31 for 20K per year so I could become an "airline pilot"
Weagamow was the best, the band treated me like a member of the family wish I could go back!
Cheers.......Jim

It's not enough to buy Oka, but you will be able to afford plenty of KD.Invertago wrote:Orca or KD have any comments?

Your figures are close enough... You will get the odd sketchy place that doesn't want to pay for training or asks you to pay them for training, that should be your sign to peace out. Other factors to take into account there (on the west coast)is schedule and maintenance. I did short stint out there then decided that poverty and crappy work conditions isn't for me anymore so i found something up north, yes it's not beautiful BC but it's not that bad.

40-55K depending on location of the city (east or west), size of fleet, and whether salary or base +miles.
Most cities that still run skeds with a PA31 should be paying at least 40K a year minimum.
Up north you can make well north of 60K, again depending on the company, location, and fleet size. (plus variables like paid accommodations etc etc).
Our PA31 Capt`s make north of 40 K and fly about 400 hours a year (+ accommodations, Sat TV, High speed internet, company vehicle included as well). NOT located in any major city (at least our PA31s are not).
Good Luck with your search!

Re: Navajo pilot pay...?
A friend of mine just left Weagamow Air after 2 years there. He couldn't say enough good things about the company so I understand why you miss it there! He showed up with no float rating, and fresh out of school with a CPL/ Multi IFR and 220 hours. They paid for his float rating and he went from the dock to the 185, to right seat in the PA31, then DHC2 pilot, then finally PA31 Capt...great company and a very good Ops Mgr from what im told. He said he would have stayed another year but his lady was getting tired of life on the res so he left...but the pay was still good as were the working conditions. Nice to hear they have stayed steady with the way they treat pilots!JMACK wrote:Ok this was 1989. The company was Weagamoe Air. PA31 Captain 1200 base and 20 cents a mile!
