Malaysian Airshow Mid-Air Collision

Post by Changes in Latitudes »

All four pilots survived.
The event occurred as two of the team's KT-1 aircraft (similar to a Pilatus PC-9) were approaching each other head-on when they clipped wings, resulting in the rapid loss of control of both aircraft.

Hmmm, waste of airplanes. I don't care who is watching, why they are watching, or what they paid, I like to fly so as risk of collision with anything is as unlikely as possible! Call me an old pilot.....

Well, maybe you're a bit like me and have more to live for and less to prove than some. Waste of a nice aircraft for sure. Glad that this time it wasn't a waste of life though.

Fly safe

Wow, never heard of a KT-1 before. I would've thought that these were Pilatus PC-7s or PC-9s.

Why would they be flying maneuvers like that with two crew?

If you haven't heard OF them, you ought to HEAR them...they're loud, aggressive, and mean-scream-sounding.

Used to watch ROK Airforce in them for hours doing mock dog fights over Sacheon/Jinju airport in S Korea. I think they are manufactured right there also.
