new Classic Airline
Hi all,
Just wondering when the new classic airline is supposed to start it's operations? Also will they be hiring FAs off the street and outsourcing under the wing operations?
Thanks

Re: new Classic Airline
Negots with the other employee groups are ongoing so what happens with them is still unknown. My gut feeling is the f/a's will be forced to either accept a tough agreement or watch the work go elsewhere...if you compare our f/a's with Encore, SR, and even Rouge, they have very sweet wawcon. Change, for some of them, is coming. Big time.

Classic Airlines is already operating and has been for years. Anytime you see a Dash 8-100 or -300, that's Classic Airlines.

Changes, in a negative way, only occurs if your union roles over and plays dead! There is no need to join the race to the bottom!biatch wrote:Negots with the other employee groups are ongoing so what happens with them is still unknown. TPB,
Their union members are divided and their leadership immature. Management knows this. Has nothing to do with race to the bottom IMO. Has more to do with reigning in a CA that management, in less competitive times, let expand too much.
Not sure if you have any union experience, but I have had a fair bit in the past and I've never known a union to just "roll over and play dead". In hard times, the best a union can do is mitigate as much harm as possible for its members. If the f/a group is smart, they will seize some of these opportunities. But if they want to have a fit and leave the table and play the aggressive game (as they often have in the past), they will be doing themselves in.

Why does jazz need to start a new airline for the classics? To operate at a lower cost? Didn't they just cut wages at the current company?
Re: new Classic Airline
Compare the Jazz wages to Encore, Sky Regional, Westjet and Air Canada and you'll see where FA WAWCON is going. Compete or die. Blaming employees that are being under cut for agreeing to lower wages is pretty low itself. Nobody wants to make less but even more so people don't wanna be unemployed.

Probably the most intelligent observation on this site around the last few years of finger-pointing and name-calling over the "race to the bottom".teacher wrote:Blaming employees that are being under cut for agreeing to lower wages is pretty low itself. Re: new Classic Airline
AC has Rouge so I think Jazz should call it's low cost Rosé
