Three men are alive after their float plane flipped over in a lake forcing them to spend a night on shore around a camp fire.
Lac du Bonnet RCMP said today that on Saturday at about 9:30 p.m. they received a call that a float plane was overdue from returning to Bissett.
The RCMP said the plane had flown out of Lac du Bonnet at about 8 a.m., that day, expecting to return about 6 p.m. When the plane didn’t return, RCMP was notified.
RCMP said CFB Trenton was contacted and on Sunday at 5:30 a.m., the Hercules air search team found the float plane upside down in Bushey Lake northeast of Bissett, in Atikaki Provincial Park, and saw three people on shore around a camp fire.
The Hercules continued to circle the site until a float plane from Bluewater Aviation in Bissett landed to fly the three men back to Bissett.
The three men were suffering from mild hypothermia.
The Transportation Safety Board of Canada is investigating the incident.
