Wait... Didn't the people of Toronto pay porter and the TPA something like $40million to not build a fixed connection to the Island? Shouldn't porter have to pay back the money to the tax payer and a fine of some sort?
I also enjoy them trying to get jets out of that Island when there is an existing agreement stating no jets until something like 2040 at the earliest or something. So if porter gets the jets... Does everyone living around there have their taxes lowered? I mean, to buy a property near an airport you have to sign an agreement. And I'm fairly sure realtors all mentioned no over night flights, no jets, etc etc etc
I haven't seen this much sketch since my dealings with NXA. A lot of good people on that island. But I have to say I am thoroughly enjoying watching and reading about the wheelings and dealings over there.

When Miller took over as mayor, he cancelled the bridge which had already been started. Several of the involved parties sued over this, and were awarded a settlement. One of those individuals was Bob Deluce, who had planned to start an airline based out of YTZ once the bridge was finished. 3 years later, he went on to start Porter, arguably with a boost from that settlement money, but you can't say "Toronto paid Porter". Somewhat ironic, but in keeping with tradition of politicians screwing things up and costing the taxpayers $$$$$, the settlement allegedly cost more than the planned bridge was going to cost!WhiskeyWhiskey wrote:Wait... If I understand correctly, the proposed amendment to the tripartite agreement calls for restricting aircraft based on noise profile, not their powerplant. This seems like a logical measure, and the jet engine technology improvements since the '80s when the original ban was imposed mean that it is possible that some jet aircraft are no more noisy than some of the propeller driven aircraft that frequent YTZ. Once upon a time, I lived on the lakeshore, a stone's throw from YTZ. This was just as Porter was starting operations, and the noise from the airport was nothing compared to the party boats passing through the western gap with their music blasting. But even that wasn't as bad as when I lived in midtown Toronto, and the street noise was terrible.WhiskeyWhiskey wrote: I also enjoy them trying to get jets out of that Island when there is an existing agreement stating no jets until something like 2040 at the earliest or something. Im hearing the tunnel can only acess the terminal. What about Porter General aviation FBO?
Do we still have to use the ferry?

The tunnel brings you into the terminal but you can still walk over to the FBO.

There are already jets going into YTZ f.y.i, not frequently, but it happens more often than you think.
There was a Falcon 10 there from Air Inuit the other day. Medevac, but a jet nonetheless.
The NIMBY's in this city are incredible.

Medevac jets have always been permitted under the tripartite agreement. I don't think anyone is unaware of them, on either side.
DId you hear the one about the jurisprudence fetishist? He got off on a technicality.

Will there be free parking on this of all auspicious days????
Will there be free refreshments????
And will Bombardier's most loyal and shareholder be on hand (check it out on bnn.ca at http://www.bnn.ca/News/2015/7/24/Meet-B ... omer-.aspx) to shed light on something more obscure????????
ORNGE you glad I didn't mention noisy helicopters????

They both access the terminal, they both take you to the same spot...skymarc wrote:Im hearing the tunnel can only acess the terminal. What about Porter General aviation FBO?

You give a lot of credit to the "No Jets T.O" NIMBYs.photofly wrote:Medevac jets have always been permitted under the tripartite agreement. I don't think anyone is unaware of them, on either side.
