A couple questions

Post by whipline »

I was just curious if you guys have a standard landing configuration. Obviously field length and weather will change these but I was curious what you guys land the -800 with? Flaps 30 autobrake 2?

On the -800 do you turn off the trim air before shutdown and turn it on after start up? If you don't have you had any problems with it?

For your RNP approaches do you do them in LNAV and VNAV? And what do you set in the altitude for minimums? For example do you add 50 feet to minimums to make sure the aircraft does not descend below MDA?

For your ils approaches do you approach with one auto pilot or two? I can see arguments for either one or two.

Thanks

No, we don't have a standard landing config. It all depends on the situation as to what you use. I tend to use flaps 30 A.B. 1 for most landings, but it really depends on length and runway conditions.

Trim air on the 800 is turned on in Flight deck prep., and I haven't seen anywhere where it says to turn it off. I haven't seen or heard of any problems with it yet, but I have only flown it a few times.

RNP appr. HAVE to be flown in LNAV VNAV Path (as opposed to VNAV Speed). We set a Decision alt. as published, it is not an MDA, like an NDB. It is treated like an ILS DA. You decide at min. and go around or land.

CAT I ILS's are flown using single auto. CAT II/III are flown using both autopilots.

Hope that answers your questions.
