Some inspiration for the driven types.....

Post by RB-211 »

If you are a young aviator looking upwards and onwards have a look at this.....

http://www.oxfordaviation.net/company/ba-pr.htm

I know its in the UK but its impressive to say the least. To all you young ones out there with access to Euro passports (easier than you think) take note.

Do not let all the negative vibes of Canadian aviation get you down. There is more to flying than flying in Canada.Lots more. In fact if you have the chance to get out while young I would advise it!!

The two young chaps in the above article would probably agree.

Good luck!

Good for them, they are living proof that you dont need grey hair to fly an airliner.

A friend of mine did his PPL here in Canada then went to OAT ( the place in the article ) and in no time at all he's FO on a Dash-8, within weeks of graduating. It's easier to get somewhere at a younger age in the UK, but you have to also look at the reasons...there is a limited supply of pilots due to the crazy training costs. I think the OAT course ( PPL, CPL, IFR and Frozen ATPL ) is somewhere in the region of 60k GBP....

Good for him! That took a lot of dedication at his age....know I wouldn't have had the dedication to do that when I was his age.

Oxford is a minimum of £60K from ab initio. In fact in the UK I think the least you can do it for is about forty grand sterling. Good for the guy in the article - I am sure he worked damn hard to get where he did. Kind of makes one wish they'd had their shit together at 18 - ah well!!!

I had the chance to do my entire training in the UK but for some reason thought coming to Canada and doing it here would be a better option

No regrets though. Timmy Ho-Ho's and KD dinner kick ass! :supz:

Yeah, no kidding. I don't think age has much to do with anything in this country -- I was in an aviation college at 17 -- it's opportunity... or the lack thereof.

I imagine he didn't have to work the ramp or instruct for 2 or 3 years so he could be considered for right seat in a navajo or king air.

Isn't that the guy from Family Guy? He sure looks different than the tv show.

Ok. nevermind. I might know more about the show if I could still get satellite.
