I've just had word from his wife that after a tough fight bmc has succumbed to cancer. RIP Brian.

Ahh, sh!t, no. I was just thinking about him last week - hadn't heard from him in a while. Guess that last email will remain unsent.

My condolences to his family.

Ah, that is really terrible to hear! I never met him in person but we often had very funny PM exchanges and him telling stories of the Middle East. He seemed like a genuinely good person! R.I.P bmc and condolences to all family and friends!

Sorry to hear that he lost his battle. He had a kind demeanour about him on these forums and came across as a very intelligent person. My best to his family and friends, sounds like a life well lived.

Dug up one of his first posts, just to look back a bit.

Sad news indeed, I had some behind the scene conversations with him over the past few years on items of mutual interest like our working lives, family life and his passion of wine. A person of knowledge that is for sure and he did tell me of his illness and determination to fight as best he could and he certainly has a positive outlook. RIP bmc and perhaps we will sip a classified when my turn comes.

Such a shame. He had offered me an invitation to visit him in Switzerland and I was unable to take him up on it, to my regret. Just goes to show once again, how you should seize every chance to enjoy generous, interesting people while you can.

My sincere condolences to his family. Thank you for the news Siddley.

Im sorry I never made it to Geneva and have that drink with you. We had never met, but messaged back and forth. My next Geneva layover, we were supposed to get together. I knew of his illness but with his positive outlook, it never crossed my mines that we may lose him.

A huge loss.

Remember him fondly from the ND days. A real gentleman. If anyone hears of any public information it would be appreciated.

I was floored when I heard from his wife about his passing. Sad news indeed.

I never got to visit him at his farm though I would have very much liked to.

I had the pleasure of sharing a meal with him in YYZ. Hell of a character.

Brian was a great guy, ever a comic, and certainly wouldn't want everyone to be sad at this.

I posted this on his FB group as it seemed fitting:

God speed Brian.

I just had the following message from Brian's wife, asking me to thank you all for your kind sentiments.
...He loved that place and the people there, talked about it all the time. Could you please thank them all from me and our girls, and let them know how much it and his friendships there meant to him? Thanks James!

Wow, what a great cross section of Avcan in one short thread. Haz, and somebody who changed their user name to morse code. Watch out for the people with thin skin...what do you have against people with thin skin...

I happen to be holding a rather stiff glass with gin and ginger at the moment so I'll raise it to bmc. Here's to him.

Terrible news. His posts were always pragmatic, I got the feeling he was a well rounded guy. I had always hoped to hear him on the radio coming into GVA but pretty sure it never happened. I gather he was taken a while before his time. My thoughts go out to his wife. Life sure seems to slip through our fingers.
