TransCapital Air - UN?

Just curious if TransCapital still does UN work?

Lately they have like 10 to 12 DHC-7s sitting at CYTZ where as before they only had like 2-6.

Trans Capital bought up most of Air Greenland's fleet as they switched to Dash 8's a few years back. TCA probably owns the largest fleet of Dash 7's in the world right now, as the US Army was the biggest operator but they too are retiring their fleet of surveillance Dash 7's and replacing them with Dash 8 300's....

That side of YTZ is looking like a deHavilland bone yard these days.

As for UN work, not sure what they have on the go.

It appears the UN wants to do a lot more business and expand their offerings requiring additional aviation "partners" to bid on, save for those that are relying 100% on UN contracts.

Not too bad for a "few" old Dash 7's. For TCA that is.

dashx "Not too bad" is a known public number (UN margins) in Voyageur's case in 2014/2015 with them being acquired by Chorus.

I was told they are down to two contracts with the UN. They do, however, have more than two Combi Dash 7's so its just a matter of time before they get another contract. Strife and misery never end...And people make money....
And I only saw three 7's parked at the south end (two of which will never fly). The port authority used to have an aerial photo of the airport and you could see the City Express Saunders parked at the south end (a static example (Voyageur) on display at the museum in Sault Ste Marie). Chop Chop and they were gone (before my time on the island). There were a few (three possibly) 7's parked by the hangar but that means little as well. It's always convenient to have your spare parts close to you.........Engine needed? No problem.....just take one off an airplane.

As far as rotations go you probably still have to make a deal with them and at the end they will try to extend.....
