Best place to work to enable travelling

Post by Gear Jerker »

I guess the main factors would be time off, and income. A bonus would be some flight benefits. Voyageur? R1? Where else. Thanks in advance

Anything seasonal. Find a turbine float plane of some description to fly and take 6-8 months off in a row per year. And make enough in those 4-6 months to live like a king for your time off.

Well, I reckon I have the 747 of seasonal jobs, and if I had to do it over again, I'd seriously consider airlines, and long-haul at that.. Bid your months back-to-back, and go away on your extended time off. Also, ten years down the road when your travelling days are done, youll still have a decent job and pay, and time at home throughout the year with your family...

So, lemme get this straight...you want to pay (out of your own pocket!) to travel?

Lots of gigs out there will pay you to travel!

Just about any survey job is guaranteed to get you overseas at some point.

Yes, V-Ger and R1 as well as TransCapital...

KBA if you want to see the chillier spots on the planet (and some of the warmest as well)

Any rotational job will allow you the time and maybe the money...
and some rotational gigs will even get you flight passes...like 7F (YFB), 5T (on the DHC8), Air Inuit (?), etc

of course, personally, I spend so much time away from home that travel is the last thing I want to do on my time off....
It's amazing how comfortable my couch is, playing video games with my kids....

Go get a job at Voyageur.

Work two months on, and two months off. They pay for your travel to/from one location in your two months off. So for example you could fly to SE Asia after your rotation and stay for a month. Fly home on your own dime and then the company will fly you back to your rotation when it starts again.

That, or you could just buy a beach bungalo in Bali and live there during your two months off. I know I'd enjoy that.
