Can flight crew travel with sports equipment on pairings?
Perhaps an oddball question, but can flight crew bring sports equipment with them on a pairing? Specifically a bike in a travel case or a scaled down set of golf clubs?
Re: Can flight crew travel with sports equipment on pairings
Surprisingly enough I brought my skates through NPS and no one said boo

Maybe I should re-phrase my question; At Westjet and/or Encore, can a pilot bring his bike or golf clubs with him/her on a pairing without incurring any sports equipment surcharges?
Basically, is it allowed? Does anybody do it?

Bikes Yes, golf clubs no.
then you need to find a place to stow it,
Any airplane swaps would require lugging a bike around as well.

Ice skates

BingBong, ice skates have been allowed in carry on for a few years now, I don't get it but nonetheless allowed. They clearly haven't seen what skates can do to a jugular vein.

I have wondered the same. The way I understood it, you can bring anything you want as long as it isn't prohibited as a carry on. CATSA's only job is to screen for prohibited items like coffee and butter knives. They don't regulate what you do on your time off. Some people bring guitars on the road so I don't see why you can't bring skates, or even a snowboard for those long 30 hour layovers in Terrace or Comox.

Snowboard?! should you be flying an aeroplane if you can't muster sufficient brainpower to run your feet independently from each other while sliding across snow?

Say, what's that mountain goat doing up here in the mist?

Lol north shore.
Snowboards don't require ski poles, which I believe are prohibited items in terms of carry on's. Therefore, a board would be easier to sneak past the guys with a lobotomy who insist on refusing me to carry my coffee through security.
