Air Taxi Requirements

Post by rwy15 »

I noticed Iflygta is registered privately (C-GFMT), but Kasper Air (C-FPRX) is registered commercially. Both advertise pretty intensely for their air taxi services.

Seems like this may be the next wave of business, next to an ultra LCC (New Leaf)...not sure what will be successful, but can anyone point out where I can find the exact requirements to set something up? Perhaps there's a tax loophole in a privately registered aircraft?

A few people might be interested in adding to the competitive marketplace

CAR 703 and 723 set out the regulations for air taxi requirements.

There are no short cuts to getting your plane out in the marketplace besides renting to pilots. A long list of tribunal judgement attest to this fact. Legislation designed to protect the public interest is given very broad interpretation.

TC requires that I placard my O/M aircraft with a warning to the public in both languages. Perhaps those people wishing to pursue a "parallel" regulatory path for a casual air taxi operation, would like to emblazon their aircraft with similarly conspicuous and firm wording to notify prospective passengers as to what is not being complied with to assure their travel safety....

If you are going by what is on the TC Registration website, that could just be an error. Wouldn't be the first time it was wrong. C-GFMT does show up as private but their other 2 planes (C-GGBJ and C-GMNQ) are both commercial.
