Here's another "what should I do"
Chief Pilot twin piston or FO twin turbine? No turbine time on resume...

FO job is in NW Ontario or possibly BC (second option), CP job is out of Canada no bond, good cash, 6 mo min committment, I get a tan. Not sure how long the upgrade time is from FO. I guess the bigger question is should I stay in Canada for turbine time and contacts, or come back in a year and try again? Also, I'm not 25 anymore...

You have to ask yourself, what will make you happy. Turbine F/O job not a whole lot of responsibility vs Chief Pilot job. You never mentioned how many pilot's you will be managing. The more pilots = the less you fly and more advil you will need. Have you been in the north for very long? Every now and then people just burn out in the bush so maybe the warm spot might be the answer. How fast is the company with the CP position growing maybe there will be turbines in their future and then you will not have to be F/O.
Good luck

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

How much multi-PIC time do you have? I bet you that if you added another 500 to 1000 hours onto your present total while down south getting a suntan, you would have no problem getting other F/O jobs on a twin turbine.
Mind you we don't know your situation and maybe stability is what you're after. Really is impossible for anyone to say unless we're in your shoes and know all the variables.
What I do know is this...either way you have a job! Certainly not the worst position to be in!
Best of luck.

I think that's one of the reasons TC is looking into changing the experience requirements for the ATP. I've been hearing rumours for about 2 years that it's going to change but I have no idea when (IF?) it's actually going to happen...Cat Driver wrote:" Nothing needed, except for your Multi & MIFR flight test hours..."

Thanks everyone. It's been a tough choice. The suntan job I have experience with already (worked there before.) Wouldn't be too many pilots to manage, perhaps only 2. The flying is beautiful and there's no ice to remove.
Just worried that I'll be stuck on pistons forever and perhaps should have jumped at the turbine time. I've watched a bunch of US based pilots fly down with less time than me that are captains on jets.
I have about 2500TT and 800 multi. I realize there is always room for more experience. I just see a lot of movement right now and don't want to be left out sitting in the Caribbean (albeit with a suntan) with no contacts.

Companies like Thunder Air, Voyageur having been hiring fairly regularly. I know people have been upgrading fast in Thunder Air. I personally don't think you'll have a hard time finding a turbine job...either before or after the carribean option.
