YYZ asked to change to YWG: In-person interview yet?

Hi there,

I was in the group that got asked to change regions from YYZ to YWG. The group did the in person assessment in January. I was wondering if anyone from the group get a call for their second interview yet? I passed my phone interview and am now awaiting to hopefully get a call back for the second interview.

Anyone in the same situation or have any idea when the courses start in Winnipeg?

They asked our whole group to switch, around 30-40 people. I'd have to guess that YYZ was over capacity and YWG was in need of people. I'm actually originally from Winnipeg and my parents still live there so making the switch was a no brainer.

I have also finished my phone interview 2 weeks ago.
Waiting for the in person interview and it has been a week since my documents arrived to Nav Canada.

I'm still waiting on an in-person interview. How's everyone else doing in the YWG pool? I heard from the training staff that Winnipeg will be running a pile of courses starting in the fall (September, October) and that they haven't even started thinking about filling spots yet (i.e. all the courses are empty). Good news I guess - maybe there's still a chance to get an in-person interview done and get loaded on a fall course.

A little off topic, but does anyone know, if you do your training at YWG, what are your chances of being placed somewhere else (within the region of course, I believe Saskatoon, Regina, and Thunder Bay are the other options for VFR) for OTJ training and for a position later on? Do you have any say in it?

Winnipeg, St. Andrews, Regina, saskatoon, and Thunder Bay are the towers within Winnipeg fir. Your chances of being placed at any of them are all based on staffing. You'll find out fairly early what spots they are going to send you to. But who goes where is anyone's guess

Hey! Sorry I haven't been active on this forum. Didn't hear back from them since back in Jan/Feb when I did my phone interview. Got called up last week to go for my in person interview.

Got called July 15th for an interview on the 20th. Not a lot of breathing room since I live in Ontario atm but I managed. Good luck to you!

Got the call last week. The training admin did confirm that there is a VFR course starting September. Didn't hear anything about IFR. I do have a preference of IFR, but I'm not going to be picky about what stream I get.

The school in CZWG is running courses indefinitely, across multiple IFR specialties. No one should worry about getting a call. Opportunities abound in the YWG FIR.
