I couldn't find what I was looking for on previous threads, sorry if this is repetitive.
Does anyone have any experience with instrument rating renewals overseas. I'm a DPE (designated pilot examiner in Vietnam) and have a pilot on a Canadian validation. If I do a check ride with him and/or he does 6/6 before the expiration date on his group 3, does this make him valid to continue flying?
His Group 3 shows that it expires in April.
Your factual information and / or direction would be greatly appreciated.

As of sometime last year, Canadian Instrument ratings no longer expire. New stickers were sent out and your pilot should have received a new one without an expiration date.
The new regulations require either an instrument renewal ride OR and IPC (instrument proficiency check) every 24 months to be valid.

4.2.d.iii of this document describes WHO can conduct an IPC.
