Hey folks, long time lurker first time posting. I'm hoping to make the move to AC at some point. What would the fastest route to AC if a guy had 1700tt? I'm a king air captain with 500hrs PIC, have been offered an upgrade on a 1900, and I don't have any 705 time. Thanks!

Did you think you voting no to the MOA would have made any difference?

I think voting no to the MOA was important to let management know the constant cycle of taking from Peter to pay Paul has to end.

MOA still had flat pay - and my question still stands, how is this affordable?

Thankfully 80% of the voters weren't gullible terminal 'yes' voters.

Too many yes votes in the past have done permanent damage to this industry

Well done AC pilots!

King Air or 1900 is basically the same in the eyes of AC, I’d look for a FO spot on a jet 705. You have a good amount of PIC. Jet 705 would definitely help you out.

Nobody’s getting hired at AC with less than 2000 hours, as for Jazz they’re starting to get hired in order of seniority. As quickly as was supposed to be no.

Definitely not as quickly as possible, considering there is a 250 pilot deficit projected to the end of Dec 31, if hiring remains at the current rate.

Actually AC views large aircraft PIC (over 12566 lbs.) more favourably. They specifically have you break it down in their online application.

I definitely think this is what got my foot in the door. I don't think it's what got me hired but it did get me to the next step of online interview and testing.

during the interview, there were some yes or no questions, one of them was if i failed any checkride, flight test.

how much do they weight if you failed a flight test before?

If you have, be honest. It will score more favourably than you'd think. AC likes people who can admit to making mistakes if they can recognize what, why and how they've learned from it. It shows that they can trust you. From my understanding, there are 3 things here that could get you fired. Lying, harassment and wilful gross negligence.

You guys can correct me if I'm wrong, but this was the impression I got from a combination of talking to some senior managers, reading the policies, and speaking with more senior pilots.

I said I failed a checkride when I interviewed a few months ago, and I still got hired. They want you to be honest.

I failed one 8 years ago. Flew at WJ and AC since then.

Excellent opportunity to explain what you learned. You learned something, right?

I've never heard of a failure or two being a problem at any airline during the interview process. They're just trying to see if there is a consistent history of failures. They would be concerned if your answer would have been something like, always failing an initial type and needing extra training to get through.
