I would imagine the offers of employment to still be good once the dust settles.

Hello folks. I'm one of the lucky ones scheduled for the March 23rd PIT.
A lot of rumors floating around, but no official word yet here.
Not a pleasant time. We'll see if they postpone the PIT or cancel the employment letters completely. Official payroll date is the 18th.

Best of luck to all.

I am hearing that the Mar 23 course at AC is cancelled. No more hiring planned until the end of the summer at least.

This will have an impact on hiring at Jazz as well no doubt.

Source?

Wouldn’t be surprised if it is cx for now.

My wife just did in person interview today. Only official news from AC is 2 smaller classes to come, still 400-700 needed for new duty regulations by years end. Update about 5 days old now. Everything up in the air, unless your AC stock, it’s not in the air, quiet opposite!!

Allegedly the people who were given job offers have been told they will have to reapply.

Basically went from a new job next week, to a PFO.

I was part of them. Got told that we would get priority when the hiring starts again. Medical and psych eval will have to be redone. I personally haven't been told that I would have to redo the interview but know a couple pilots who got told they will have to do it again.
Should we take it as a PFO? I don't know... Should we be looking for job somewhere else in the meantime? Definitely.
Hopefully that even will solidify the links between the pilots and next time hiring starts, we will be more unified as ever. (Until we forget and start stepping on eachother again...)

Good luck, hopefully you do get priority.

Odd you need to redo the psyc and medical. But it's AC, they dont' make sense half the time.

Maybe hoping you don't go crazy after watching the world burn for a few months.

It’s gonna get ugly for at least a year before we start to even consider looking at hiring

AC could petition the government to drop the new fatigue rules for a year... amongst other things to save money.

This is already being discussed between government and the major carriers. I fully expect a delay in implementation to happen.

Well I guess this is the end of this thread for a while...

Weather you think this virus is a joke or a flash in the pan, the reality is the GLOBAL economy and our industry has been absolutely decimated in the span of a couple months. If you think we’ll recover from this in a few weeks/months, I think you’re living in a dream world.

We’ll recover, but when and to what capacity is yet to be seen.

Stay safe everyone.

Just play the game, do what you can do to stop the spread and isolate this fu*king thing so we can all go back to work as soon as possible.

T.

Hehe, of course I don’t as long as understanding what is a fairly commonsensical economic strategy goes against your narrative. :goodman:
2 days later... I wonder if your opinions on diversification are any different? How's that "commonsensical economic strategy" and "limited exposure" holding up?

Crazy times.

An internal memo sent to union officials and obtained by The Canadian Press says that travellers are rebooking en masse and "our airline's well-being has become grave overnight."

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/ ... -1.5497037
The times they are crazy indeed. However, no I have not really changed my opinion regarding the relative position of each carrier's exposure. Just because the media has access to the WJ perspective doesn't mean that similar talk isn't happening at AC behind closed doors. In the medium term, both carriers will bounce back. Right now it's just about damage control.
How about now?
