Eclipse test pilots prove wheels to be useful

Post by desksgo »

If these guys can do this, I haven't got a prayer.

PILOT ERROR BLAMED IN ECLIPSE 500 GEAR-UP LANDING
As AVweb reported last week, Eclipse Aviation Corporation's fourth
FAA-conforming flight-test aircraft, N505EA, experienced a gear-up
landing on Saturday, Sept. 3, at the Albuquerque International
Sunport. There were no injuries to the two pilots aboard the aircraft,
which was landing at the conclusion of a test flight. The company said
the incident resulted from pilot error -- Eclipse did not name the
crew -- and that no aircraft mechanical or electrical problems
contributed to it. The flight-test aircraft was attempting to land on
Runway 3.

Just goes to show you. Complacency can happen to anyone.

When I was training the saying was, "There are those who have landed gear up and those that will"

GUMP check will never fail you

Yes one of the Global Express test birds landed gear up as well. I think it was during the testing of GPWS warnings and such....enabling and disabling systems during the flight....
I know one guy on board was Management......

Not much damage to the airplane though, some underbelly fairings, wingtip and nose repair......then back up flying.

Eclipse Gear Up

Post by twotterdriver »

One of the remarks put out by Eclipse was something to the effect of "Now we can prove how easy Stir-Friction components are to repair!"

Gotta love a positive attitude!

Never landed gear up, don't plan to either!
