Another question for Transport Canada Civil Aviation
About a month ago I posted a question on this forum to the head of TC flight training regarding written exams.
I received no answer.
There is now another question that needs to be answered being discussed by this group that relates to the reinstating of an ALTP after a pilot lets a class one instrument rating lapse for an extended period of time.
Would the head of flight training take a moment of his time to set everyone straight on this subject?
It is a rather important question that needs to get resolved.
P.S.
No one seems to be able to find a definitave answer in CAR's. So is it possible to receive a clear answer from the person in charge of flight training, or someone who has enough credibility to give an answer in TC?
. .

After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Didn't these curreny issues evolve from changing to the ATPL from the ATR? The "R" stood for a rating subject to currency requirements of the group one instrument rating. Along with that, they eliminated the senior commercial. If they went to the FAA way regarding the instrument proficiency, it would save a lot of grief on both sides of the fence.

Well for what ever it is worth I let my instrument rating lapse for just over two years and had to re write the IFR exams and once I did the instrument re ride my ATPL was once again valid, and that was after CAR's came into effect.
But that doesen't mean much because I can't recall exactly what phase of the moon was in effect that day.

Yes, Special K:
Isn't it strange that we have come to hold the regulator in such contempt?
Sadly they for the most part care more about power and self serving than for the well being of us the very people they are there to protect and assist.
Sad but oh so true.
And there seems to be nothing we can do to change their attitude.

Well they have outdone themselves today. I called TC today and the first inspector i called from commercial and business aviation was gone until the end of the week. The next was gone until the end of the month. The next was on the phone but called back promptly. So i asked a question and got an answer (which i didn't like). So i argued it a bit and then hung up to call our local inspector and he is gone until the end of the month. But then the phone rings, and the inspector i was talking to changes his answer. It's better but not yet good. So i argue a bit and he changes his answer again.
I know that if you talk to three different inspectors you will get three different answers, but three from the same guy? Within an hour?

No wonder aviation is going to the dogs.
Has anyone ever thought that we are getting to a point where non compliance will mean just trying to operate a business.
It seems that the mentally difficient inmates are truly running this nut house that TC has become.

There's no way those two are from TC; I mean just look at em, it's obvious! A) They're smiling and seemingly happy, not conclusive evidence but.. B) They're not standing, bloody knife in hand, over the corpse of some poor pilot.
Therefore, the obvious conclusion is, they ain't transport.

Come on guys, this thread is like shooting fish in a barrel - too easy and not much fun...
There should be a Bitch about Transport category.
Cat, your question was legit - why didnt you call and ask and then post?

Shure, no problem.
Just tell me who to call.
You give me the name of a TC official who has enough integrity to answer the question truthfully and I will visit him / her in person and then let you know how it went.
All I need is a contact name.
