Why would Transport make things SOOOOOO much harder for not only us but all the inspectors there WERE (TC revoked this about 2 months ago from all inspectors) using this product.
CARs deluxe is amazing.
I am never amazed at the dumb shit being put forward by TC and the Liberals.
Dear Colleague,
For the past 16 years we have had the privilege of providing the Canadian aviation industry with our CARs Deluxe product. Unfortunately, as a result of a decision by Transport Canada's Director General, Aviation Safety Regulatory Framework and affirmed by the current Minister of Transport, we regret to inform you that we have no choice but to cease production of CARs Deluxe.
In order to facilitate your transition to the Transport Canada website, the last version of CARs Deluxe will be dated March 2017 and supported until June 30, 2017.
- Subscription renewals dated June 1, 2016 will run through the complete amendment cycle ending May 31, 2017.
- Subscriptions renewed after June 2016 will be prorated to coincide with amendment cycle ending May 31, 2017.
Many of you have been valued customers from the beginning, and we thank you for your ongoing support and for those of you who are new to our product, we thank you for your initial purchase.
I too am saddened by the upcoming demise of CAR's Deluxe. IMO it one of the best things to ever come onto the Canadian aviation scene. Trying to find a reference on the new CAR's location on the Justice site is beyond painful!
But, I can understand it from the TC brass perspective, 200 licence at $200 a licence is $400,000 a year, a lot of money in anyones eyes! I betting the inspectors aren't happy about the switch, but they likely didn't have much input into this cost cutting measure....
But, to state it again, IT SUCKS!!!

I haven't used CARs deluxe, but from what I can see it is just a CDROM version of the CARs, which seems kind of redundant in this day and age. The only difference I see is the ability to add post-it notes. The website has an advanced search feature, which I imagine is the same as CARs deluxe. You can also load the whole damn thing into chrome, do a search within the page, and see all the results from the entire CARs as yellow lines in the scrollbar.
(To find that, just google "tc cars", click on the first link, then click on "Canadian Air Regulations" link).
If you're doing a site search via google you'll need to search on site:laws-lois.justice.gc.ca rather than site:tc.gc.ca. However it's much easier to use the search on the CARs site itself, or just go to http://laws-lois.justice.gc.ca/eng/regu ... lText.html (all the CARs in a single html page) and search in the page.
CARs deluxe is not just for CARs. It's a one stop shop for every and any regulation you maybe looking for, wether it be Health and safety, ACP manuals, flight attendant manuals, the list is deep.
If you only require one regulation than yes, the justice site is just fine.
As for the cost, is Aviation Data not a private company?. I am sure there enough of us purchasing it to keep it running even though the cancellation of TC is significant.
Agreed. Labour Code, AOHS, etc. The bookmarking saves a lot of time and every edition comes with a "what's new" section that saves a ton of time determining what has been added/revised/removed. How else can a smaller organization legitimately say they've actually reviewed all the regulatory changes that have occurred in the the last 90 days that affect all functions of an organization not just CARs?
Try and find crap that TC/government agencies quietly remove from Regs. Why find it? Because your manuals are written to comply with it and when it silently disappears it becomes very difficult to remain proactive.
TC is getting worse and worse for removing info that was once on their website and now hiding it behind closed doors. Pretty funny since Garneau is a self-proclaimed NASA "scientist" and yet his department is muzzling people just like Harper.
Point to Ponder: Did NASA create the term "Normalization of Deviance" or was it created to describe NASA?
This http://www.tc.gc.ca/eng/acts-regulation ... 96-433.htm is just as broken as TC. Cars Deluxe was the most efficient way to glean information from the Regs. And it was a TC inspector that told me about the program.
