C-GNUC, a privately registered Piper PA-28-140 with the pilot and one passenger on board, attempted a take off on RWY 27 Winnipeg/Lyncrest, MB (CJL5). The aircraft then turned around and departed from RWY 09 for a round robin trip returning to Lyncrest. Shortly after takeoff the aircraft turned right, descended, and collided with terrain. The ELT activated briefly and there was a post crash fire. The two occupants sustained fatal injuries, the aircraft was destroyed. TSB investigators were deployed.
