Regaining IFR recency with 6/6/6/ after 12 months

Post by Jimmy2 »

It's been more than 12 months (but less than 24) since my IFR Flight Test and I haven't flown IFR. Can I regain recency now with 6 hours of simulated IFR and 6 approaches in a level D sim or is an IPC required? The latter of course would be quicker but I'd be paying out of pocket and the former would be paid by company as part of initial type training. Thanks.

This is what I found in the CARS:

(B) Following the first day of the 13th month following the completion of one of the items in (A) above within six months preceding the flight have acquired six hours of instrument time and completed six instrument approaches to minima according to approved instrument approach procedures in an aircraft or Flight Simulation Training Device (FSTD) as specified in the Exemption.

So that looks like you can maintain 6/6/6 with a simulator. So I guess all I really need to check is can you regain currency with 6/6 after the first day of the 13th month if you haven't maintained it up to that point.
