Flight training in Toronto / Central ON

Post by Springbok »

I am living outside the country at the moment but want to finish my CPL in Canada. Besides checking the www, I have been eyeballing the forums. There seems to be a lot of varying opinions about good flight schools in the Toronto area / North of Toronto / Central ON. I was looking at Brampton FC but am having second thoughts after reading some of the thread on the school.

Can you guys give me some straight up advice on where to go. Transport Canada have credited a lot of my PPL African bush flying towards a Canadian CPL so I only have to do 35 hrs dual incl Night rating and 30 hrs prep towards the flight test and write the exam. I already meet the PIC and x-country requirements.

Tips on a good school would be much appreciated. I am an old dog (44) learning new tricks so I might need some personal attention with regard to the theory and the exam! :?:

Flight Schools in the Toronto area

Thanks to the following individuals who responded to my request for info:

harddeckflyer; swords2 and G-GPFG

Much appreciated. for the more accurate and unbiased views as opposed to the negativity that is sometimes thoughtlessly spewed by AVCANADA chat room heros who consider themselves as "Gods gift to avaition".

If these guys had the balls to ID themselves, maybe the BFC would have a good case for slander or defamation. I most cases, it is the losers who have nothing good to say about a places that essentially operate as top flight training institutions in the country.

Authorized Examination Centre for Transport Canada.
The Brampton Flight Centre is now an Authorized Examination Centre for
Transport Canada. We invite students in the Toronto, Mississauga and
Brampton areas to come enjoy the convenience of writing exams in our quiet, air-conditioned facilities. BFC is easy to get to and the parking is free.
Transport Canada Written Examination Fees are as follows:

7. PSTAR $105
Yeah, you go to the BFC and write your pstar for 105, maybe they'll even give you a deal for $50....

You might want to look into Canadian Flyers at Markham Airport. The prices are cheaper than others in the GTA and its location helps to minimize wasted time taxiing and flying to designated training areas.

Springbok:

It's not north of toronto, but I should mention peninsulair. Higher time instructors, honesty and professionalism, and they do seem to get a lot of older students. It's worth a look.

I'd look at BFC or Toronto Airways. Some smaller schools may be slightly cheaper, but they will screw you over in other ways.
